Representing staff was Village Manager Mike Janonis and Finance Director David Erb. John Elenberger Redwood Drive Steve and Barb Van Arsdale Can Dota Avenue Carol Tortorello Elmhurst Avenue Jim Chylik Locust Lane Thomas Tezky School Street Lou Goodman School Street Jerry Boldt School Street Walter Szymczak Eastwood Maura Reschke Na Wa Ta Mal Holec Quince Lane Walter Jordt Deborah Tom Manion Edward Ken Koeppen Linneman Road Dave Schein Na Wa Ta Mayor Juracek opened the meeting with general remarks and asked for introductions from Trustees and staff in attendance. Mayor Juracek then moved to the resident portion of the meeting. John Elenberger, Redwood Drive – Mr. Elenberger wanted to thank the Mount Prospect Village honor guard in recognizing the passing of Kevin Treu. Mr. Elenberger also wanted to bring to the attention of staff and Village Board conduct of the concrete workers performing work on village streets. Public Works was contacted to address the issue previously. Staff would follow up on the matter. Steve and Barb Van Arsdale, Can Dota – The Van Arsdale did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Carol Tortorello, Elmhurst Avenue – Ms. Tortorello did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Jim Chylik, Locust – Mr. Chylik also commented on discussion regarding the company contracted to complete the street program concrete work. General discussion followed. Tom Tezky, School Street - Mr. Tezky did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Louis Goodman, School Street – Mr. Goodman inquired about the recent settlement with the Ye Olde Town Inn. Mr. Goodman was informed that a settlement was approved, but additional details regarding the settlement could not be shared. No further discussion took place. Jerry Boldt, School Street – Mr. Boldt also commented on the recent Ye Olde Town Inn settlement. Again, no further discussion was held on this matter. Walter Szymczak, Eastwood – Mr. Szymczak inquired whether the village had adequate salt reserves for the upcoming winter snow season. He also wanted to know the village was under contract for the purchase of salt. Staff explained the process for how the village acquires salt and cost of salt in prior years. General discussion followed. Maura Reschke, Na Wa Ta – Ms. Reschke wanted to know what the village does to support existing business located in the downtown area. Specifically, Ms. Reschke asked how we could have helped a particular business that recently was forced to relocate after several years in one location. The Village Board and staff discussed various economic development tools currently in place. Limitations on the village’s ability to help were also discussed. General discussion followed. Mal Holec, Quince Lane – Mr. Holec asked about the status of Levee 37 and resolution to the pump capacity issue. Staff provided an update and what to expect over the next several months. Mr. Holec also asked about new construction developments in the downtown area and for the village to consider a donation to the Frisbee Senior Center. Village Board and staff provided an update on the downtown and general discussion followed. Walter Jordt, Deborah – Mr. Jordt shared a concern he has with the construction taking place at Holmes Junior High. He is concerned that there will be a water run-off issue along Crestwood created by the construction. Mr. Jordt was also concerned that a bus traffic problem will develop at the school after the construction is completed. Mr. Janonis asked Mr. Jordt to contact him to discuss the matter further. Mr. Janonis would ask Public Works to assist in the matter. Tom Manion, Edward - Mr. Manion did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Mr. Manion was complimentary on the opportunities resident had in addressing issues with the Village Board at Coffee with Council. The Village Board thanked Mr. Manion for his comments. Ken Koeppen, Linneman Road – Mr. Koeppen asked about ongoing maintenance of street light poles. Staff shared that a regular maintenance program was in place to keep the street poles in working order. Mr. Koeppen also asked where resident could call with tree-related issues. Mr. Koeppen was directed to call Public Works and speak with the Forestry Department. Ralph Der Asadourian, Edward – Mr. Der Asadourian was a first time participant in Coffee with Council and did not have anything to bring to the group. David Schein, Na Wa Ta – Mr. Schein recently had some sewer work done on his property and wanted to share his satisfaction with the contractor. Mr. Schein did not have anything else to bring to the group. Mayor Juracek asked if there was any further business for the good of the Village.
