Mayor's Report 07/15/2014 A PROCLAMATION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF LANCE BESTHOFF TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT WHEREAS, LANCE BESTHOFF has served the Village of Mount Prospect faithfully and with great distinction for nearly 34 years, beginning his career as a member of the Mount Prospect Police Department on January 2, 1981. WHEREASLANCE BESTHOFF , throughout his career, has served honorably and courageously as evidenced by the four (4) commendations, nine (9) honorable mentions, one (1) certificate of exceptional performance, twenty-six (26) citizen letters of appreciation, and he received the “Officer of the Year” award in 1994, “Runner-Up Officer of Year” award in 1996, and “Officer of the Quarter” award for the period of April through June of 1994; and WHEREASLANCE BESTHOFF , after receiving training and certification as a Truck Enforcement Officer, worked diligently to ensure the safety of motorists traveling through the Village of Mount Prospect by conducting regular enforcement and education activities with truck drivers; and WHEREAS , having received certification as a Master Firearms Instructor through the Police Training LANCE BESTHOFF Institute at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, has served as a Range Officer to the Department, providing countless hours of valuable firearms instruction to scores of police officers throughout his career; and WHEREASLANCE BESTHOFF , collaborated with fellow firearms and tactics instructors to advance the training of police officers through innovative, relevant, and realistic scenario-based training; and WHEREASLANCE BESTHOFF ,served as a Field Training Officer developing professional and competent police officers who serve as his enduring legacy to the Mount Prospect Police Department; and WHEREASPOLICE OFFICER LANCE BESTHOFF , on July 18, 2014, will retire and conclude with nearly 34 years of faithful and dedicated service to the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect; NOW THEREFORE , I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim “LANCE BESTHOFF DAY” Friday, July 18, 2014 as in the Village of Mount Prospect and thank Officer Lance Besthoff for his nearly 34 years of police service to the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect and wish him and his wife, Karen, and their children, Kyle and Kayla, well in his retirement. ________________________________ Arlene A.
