issuing a proclamation recognizing Ms. Kucera and her contributions to the
Commission and to Mount Prospect. Mayor Juracek appointed Vice Chair Judy
Thorne to chair this Commission for the interim until a new Chairperson is
appointed. Mayor Juracek also announced that appointments for new

VI. Treasurer Report: Fmr. Mayor Gerald `Skip' Farley
A comprehensive report package was distributed and a brief discussion was
conducted by Chairperson Judy Thorne on specific expenses and items on the
report. Judy requested that future reimbursement items on Treasurer reports
include the event and reasons for the reimbursements, and she requested a final
accounting on all receipts and disbursements related to the visit of the Sevres
delegation in 2013.
Marianthi Thanopoulos recommended a role to be established for vendor
coordinator for all future Sister Cities fundraising and market activities.
VII. Committee Report(s):
a) 2013 Sevres Delegation Visit Sept. 14-19 Final: Paula Randant
Paula provided a summary and recap of the delegation visit, and reported that
the details of the visit and all the arrangements were documented in a binder with
the Village Public Information Officer Marianthi Thanopoulos.
b) 2014 French Market Committee Sept. 15 Final: Marianthi Thanopoulos
Marianthi provided a summary recap of the 2013 French Market (attached)
c) Wine Tasting Nov. 7 — Final: Paula Randant
Paula provided a recap of the wine tasting event. It was noted that paid ticket
sales doubled, due to the advance ticket sales at a discounted rate. The basket
raffle was not as successful as prior years. It was suggested this might be
improved if the raffle basket prize contained a bottle of wine.
VIII. Activities:
a) 2014 Trivia Night Committee: Patricia Fusilero
Patricia described organizing efforts that are underway, and requested
assistance with advanced ticket sales and with supervising the high school
students. After discussion it was generally agreed that a discounted price of $5
per person be made available to the high school students. Tricia and Paula will
collaborate on an email announcement and on -line ticket sales. It was
suggested Lorrie Huber and Denise Rano be asked to lead the event, and after
discussion a date was established for the event on Feb.24 2014.
b) 2014 Pot Luck Dinner Committee:
The Commission discussed alternatives for a program for the event. It was
decided that a presentation on micro regimes within France would be sought from
Brian. After discussion a date was set for April 24 2014, and it was suggested that
the event be preceded by an public announcement requesting RSVP by letter or
email.
c) 2014 July 4 Parade Committee:
After discussion it was generally agreed that the Sister Cities Commission would
again walk in the Mount Prospect July 4 Parade. Paula and Gary Randant were
the first Commissioners to volunteer to march.

It was suggested that Commissioner Mary Ann Sibrava be asked to coordinate
this event in 2014, along with the Book Crossing events (f).
e) 2014 Wine Tasting Committee:
During discussion it was generally agreed that two wine tasting events would be
successful, considering the support and generosity of the World Market
management at Randhurst Shopping Mall. The first event is tentatively planned
for May 22 2014. It was reported that a presentation by a World Market
sommelier would be a welcome addition to the event.
f) Book Crossing and Library Committee:
It was suggested that Commissioner Mary Ann Sibrava be asked to coordinate
these events in 2014.
