Representing staff was Assistant Village Manager David Strahl and Finance Director David Erb. Residents in Attendance Robbie Teichert Robin Lane Jerry Boldt School Street Ken Koeppen Linneman Road E. and Laura Miller Sitka John Elenberger Redwood Drive Julie Melino Creekside C. J. Berrigan Creekside J. Pasinata Creekside Tom Musolf Creekside Jim Chylik Locust Barb and Steve VanArsdale Candota Tom Tezky School Street Carol Tortorello South Elmhurst Avenue Max Romanowiez Ardyce Lane Walter and Patricia Szymczak Eastwood Mal Holec Quince Lane David Hansen Holly Avenue Louis Bowers Boxwood Drive Robbie Teichert, Robin Lane – Mr. Teichert asked whether the Village should consider creating a foundation similar to those at the library and schools. Also asked whether a special th recognition of past/present elected and appointed Village officials as part of the 100 anniversary should be made. General discussion followed. Jerry Boldt, School Street – On June 26 Mr. Boldt placed call into Public Works regarding water main break at 305 N. School. No answer at PW so he was referred to the non-emergency police number. Mr. Boldt felt that a more direct method be put in place to receive calls during off-hours. Requested that the village address the conceal carry law with a ban on assault weapons. General discussion followed. Ken Koeppen, Linneman Road – Mr. Koeppen noticed the railroad overpass along Northwest Highway was tagged with graffiti. Wanted to know who to contact for clean up. Mr. Koeppen was directed to call police non-emergency. Mr. Koeppen also inquired about dead trees on private property. What was the process for removal? Calls should be directed to Public Works and Community Development. E. and Laura Miller, Sitka – Son spoke on behalf of parents. The property has had a history of storm sewer flooding (overland) causing property damage. Extensive efforts by the homeowner have taken place to abate the problem. Questions on why storm drain was moved when street repairs were made. Mr. Miller called the Public Works during most recent April storm even and received no answer. He was referred to the non-emergency police number. The elder Mr. Miller felt that person that answered phone at the Police Department was discourteous. Asked what are steps can be taken to remediate the problem. Staff would be asked to address the issue and be in touch with homeowners. Significant discussion followed. John Elenberger, Redwood Drive – Mr. Elenberger commented on April flood efforts. He also commented on the additional community patrols in his neighborhood. Mr. Elenberger was appreciative of both. Mr. Elenberger also commented on the dogs at the farmers market. He felt they were a nuisance and would like them prohibited. This was deemed a Lions Club issue and suggested contacting Lions Club reps to find a solution. General discussion followed. Julie Melino, Creekside – Ms. Melino wanted asked the Village Board for assistance in addressing the noise coming from the banquet hall at Old Orchard Golf Club. She stated the problem continues despite calls to the Police Department. Mayor Juracek shared that she had held a meeting with banquet operators to discuss plans to resolve the issue. General discussion followed. Future discussion would also be held between the Village Board, Creekside residents and banquet facility operators. Jim Chylic, Locust – Mr. Chylic shared concerns for residents walking in the street. He wondered if there was an ordinance in place preventing this activity. General discussion followed. VanArsdale, Candota – Mr. and Mrs. VanArsdale had a number of questions for the board and staff. The first was requesting an update on the vacant store front that was formerly the location of Caribou Coffee. They were also interested in the status of current traffic calming measures. General discussion followed. Tom Tezky, School Street – Mr. Tezky had a suggestion for addressing traffic congestion th issues during the July 4 carnival and fireworks. He would like to see buses used transport pedestrians from the remote parking lots to the park site. General discussion followed. Carol Tortorello, Elmhurst Avenue – Ms. Tortorello discussed the move to monthly billing water billing and wanted to know the factors that went into making the change. She also revisited the Christmas tree issue. Max Romanowiez, Ardyce Lane – Mr. Romanowiez was only visiting and did not have anything to bring to the group. Walter and Patricia Szymczak, Eastwood – Mr. and Mrs. Szymczak were only visiting and did not have anything to bring to the group. Mal Holec, Quince Lane – Mr. Holec inquired into the status of the compensatory storage work in Wheeling Staff provided an update. General discussion followed. David Hansen, Holly Avenue – Mr. Hansen wanted to share with the board a recent experience he had with someone offering roof repairs while walking door to door. He did not feel the person making the solicitation to be reputable and sent him away. Mr. Hansen wanted to alert the board to this incident. Mr. Hansen was informed that “No Solicitation” stickers were available if he did not want uninvited solicitations. General discussion followed.
