RESOLUTION NO. 13-04
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING
THE PROSPECT LADY KNIGHTS BASKETBALL TEAM
AS ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATION REGIONAL CHAMPIONS
WHEREAS, the PROSPECT LADY KNIGHTS came together to commence the 2003-2004
basketball season in the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Mike Nocella and a wonderfully supportive
coaching staff the PROSPECT LADY KNIGHTS began what would become their greatest
season ever; and
WHEREAS, with each basketball victory, the spirit and determination of the LAD Y KNIGHTS
captured the enthusiasm and devotion of students, staff parents and alumni throughout the
Prospect High School community; and
WHEREAS, the LADY KNIGHTS can proudly claim a Sectional Semi-final victory of 59 to
Resurrection's 53, the Illinois High School Association Regional Championship, following a
victory of 64 to Elk Grove's 35, a Mid-Suburban League East Division Conference record of
8-2, and a first-time ever Season record of 24-6; and
WHEREAS, members of the LADY KNIGHTS have been recognized throughout the 2003-2004
season for their individual accomplishments and honors, including MVP Inside, MVP Outside,
Daily Herald All Area Team, Pioneer Press All Regional Team, Daily Herald Players of the
Week, Dundee-Crown All Tournament Team, and numerous others both individually and
collectively.
NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, on
behalf of a proud community, do hereby acknowledge recognize the PROSPECT LADY
KNIGHTS for their outstanding achievements, and thank them for a truly memorable season.
SECTION TWO: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do
hereby extend to Head Coach Mike Nocella, his coaching staff and returning players high
hopes for continued success on the basketball court for years to come.
SECTION THREE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect
do hereby extend our best wishes the graduating PROSPECT LADY KNIGHTS for lifelong
success and happiness in their future endeavors, never forgetting to keep reaching for their
dreams.
SECTION FOUR: That an official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and presented
to the PROSPECT LADY KNIGHTS as a perpetual memento.
SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

~~ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH"
April 2004
WHEREAS, underage drinking remains the number one substance abuse problem among the
nation's youth; and
WHEREAS, the use of alcohol is associated with the leading causes of death and injury among
youth, including motor vehicle crashes, homicides and suicides; and
WHEREAS, juvenile crime, violence and poor academic performance are closely linked with
underage drinking; and
WHEREAS, approximately 2/3 of teenagers who drink report that they purchase their own
alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, passage of other laws to reduce underage drinking, and enforcement of those laws
is a community and state responsibility.
NOw, THEREFORE, I, Gerald L. Farley, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
join with the Illinois Alcohol Awareness Month Campaign, and proclaim the month of April 2004
as
"ALCOHOL A WARENESS MONTH'
in Mount Prospect, and I call upon all citizens in the Village of Mount Prospect to recognize
alcohol use as a serious problem for the youth in our community..

PROCLAMA TION
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
April Blue Bow Campaign
WHEREAS, child abuse prevention is a community problem and finding solutions depends on
involvement among people throughout the community, including the courts; and
WHEREAS, the effects of child abuse are felt by entire communities, and need to be addressed
by the entire community; and
WHEREAS, the effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships
created among the courts, social service agencies, schools, religious organizations, law
enforcement agencies, and the business community; and
WHEREAS, Parents Care & Share, prevention program offering positive alternatives to help
break the cycle of abuse, is sponsoring Illinois' Blue Bow Campaign to heighten awareness of the
need to support families; and
WHEREAS, all citizens should become more aware of child abuse and its prevention within the
community, and to become involved in supporting parents to raise their children in a safe,
nurturing environment.
NOw, THEREFORE, I, Gerald L. Farley, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim the month of April as
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and call upon all citizens to increase their participation in
efforts to prevent child abuse, thereby strengthening the communities in which we live and work.
