RESOLUTION NO. 42-88
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF REAL EST ATE
COMMONLY KNOWN AS 1 a 1-103 SOUTH MAPLE STREET, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, The Village of Mount Project has enjoyed a rich and full history since
its incorporation as a Village on February 3, 1917; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect, through the Mount Prospect Historical
Society, has painstakingly preserved that history; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Historical Society has made that history available
to Mount Prospect residents, especially its children; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Historical Society, working on a limited budget, has
outgrown its present facilities; and
WHEREAS, a fund-raising campaign was undertaken by the Historical Society and
the Village of Mount Prospect to solicit funds for the purchase of a permanent si te
for the Historical Society offices and Museum; and
WHEREAS, that fund-raising effort has resulted in widespread support from both
residents and the business community; and
WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the citizens of the Village of Mount
Prospect to have a permanent site for a Historical Museum.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount
Prospect find that it is in the best interest of the residents of the Village of
Mount Prospect to have a permanent site for the Mount Prospect Historical Society
offices and Museum.
SECTION TWO: That this goal is best served by the purchase of property located
at 101-03 South Maple Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois, by the Village of Mount
Prospect utilizing funds raised from the Mount Prospect population at large and the
local business community.
SECTION THREE: That the Mayor hereby be authorized to execute a contract of
purchase and that the Clerk be authorized to attest said contract.
SECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
