Representing Staff was Village Manager Mike Janonis and Community Development Director Bill Cooney. Residents in Attendance John Ellenberger Redwood Drive Tom Manion Edward Street Carol Tortorello Elmhurst Avenue Louis Goodman School Street Jerry Boldt Locust Lane Jim Chylik Locust Lane Louis Bowers Boxwood Drive Helen Elk Cedar Lane Jan Kent Briarwood Drive Ken Rochman Wood Lane Irvana Wilks Cleven Avenue Phyllis Neil George Street Ken Koeppen Linneman Road David Schein Na Wa Ta Avenue Mayor Juracek opened the meeting with general remarks, introduced the Trustees in attendance and then moved to the resident portion of the meeting. John Ellenberger, Redwood Drive Mr. Ellenberger compliment the Fire Department on their recent pancake breakfast. Tom Manion, Edward Drive Mr. Manion asked which Village department he should contact about an alley light that was out. Mr. Janonis stated that the Public Works Department is responsible for that and that he would advise them accordingly. Carol Tortorello, Elmhurst Avenue Ms. Tortorello inquired about the status of the financing for the Road Program. Mayor Juracek advised that the Village Board has not made a final determination on his matter but that Finance Director Dave Erb was working on several scenarios for Village Board consideration. Louis Goodman, School Street Mr. Goodman indicated that he recently noticed that he could not hear the emergency siren when it went off and he was in his house. He was advised that the siren is intended to warn individuals who that are already inside. Jerry Boldt, School Street - Mr. Boldt stated that the Christian Life College historically does not plow the public sidewalks around their property. He asked if this was required by Village Code and was informed that it is not. There was general discussion regarding the merits of creating such an ordinance with no final determination made. Jim Chylik, Locust Lane - Mr. that there are many rumors but no official word on the long term status of this store. He also advised that the pedestrian signals at Golf and Busse Roads were not functioning properly. Mr. Janonis stated that he would have the Public Works Department investigate. Louis Bowers, Boxwood Drive - Mr. Bowers asked if it is recommended that homeowners pour water in drains located in window wells to ensure that they function properly. He was advised that this is not required. Helen Elk, Cedar Lane - Ms. Elk stated that she attended the Real Deals presentation on home burglaries and that it was very informative. She stated her home has been broken into several times in the past and that she is concerned with the rash of burglaries that she has read about throughout town. Jan Kent, Briarwood Lane Ms. Kent stated that she had heard that the Village is currently updating the zoning code and inquired if the updates would allow for storage of boats on grass. Mr. Cooney stated that the updates will take into consideration boat slips and docks that exist in the Lake Briarwood area but would not allow for boats on grass throughout the Village. Irvana Wilks, Cleven Avenue - Ms. Wilks thanked the Village for the retirement gift that she was given. She stated that the writing seminar was a perfect gift and that she was enjoying her retirement. She also stated that she recently attended a fund raising event for the Historical Society that it was a great success. She also asked that the Village monitor the property 121 S. Lancaster. Phylrge Street Mto other comments. Ken Koeppen, Linneman Road Mr. Koeppen asked if the Village would be extending the leaf pickup dates since the trees were dropping their leaves late this year. Mr. Janonis stated that the Public Works Department must modify their trucks to prepare for the snow plowing season so the leaf program dates were firm. David Schein, Na Wa Ta Avenue - Mr. Schein noted that the traffic signals in the downtown area were very slow and that he recently had to wait over ten minutes for the cycle to complete. He stated a funeral procession and train added to that time but wondered if the signals could be improved. He was advised that this issue had been reviewed thoroughly and that it would require closing off Prospect Avenue or other roadway reconfigurations to make any significant improvements.
