CALL TO ORDER Mayor Juracek called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.

MINUTES MINUTES
Trustee Hoefert, seconded by Trustee Zadel, moved to approve the minutes of the regular
Village Board meeting held May 7, 2013.
Upon roll call: Ayes: Hoefert, Korn, Polit, Richards, Zadel
Nays: None
Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT AND APPROVE BILLS
& APPROVE BILLS Mayor Juracek stated the next item on the agenda, "MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT AND
APPROVE BILLS" was noted by an asterisk and unless there was a request to remove an
item(s), all items further listed in that manner would be considered with one (1) vote as business
item "IX. CONSENT AGENDA."
MAYOR'S REPORT MAYOR'S REPORT
A. Proclamation: "National Safe Boating Week," May 18- 24, 2013
Mayor Juracek presented the National Safe Boating Week, May 19 -24, 2013 proclamation to
members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 39 -02 (9WR):
Ms. Virginia Haase, National Safe Boating Week Chairperson
Mr. Barry Jacobson, Vice Commander
Mr. Robert Reczek, Immediate Past President
Ms. Haase thanked Mayor Juracek and the Village Board for the proclamation and supporting
the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary's efforts in promoting safe boating practices.
Mayor Juracek thanked the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary representatives and their
organization for sharing this important public safety message.
OATH OF OFFICE B. Presentation: Administer Oath of Office to Henry Dawson as Deputy Fire Chief

Fire Chief John Malcolm introduced Battalion Chief Henry Dawson who after establishing a
distinguished career with the Mount Prospect Fire Department would be sworn in as the Village's
next Deputy Fire Chief. Battalion Chief Dawson introduced his wife and sons who were in
attendance.
Village Clerk Lisa Angell administered the Oath of Office to Deputy Fire Chief Henry Dawson,
Mayor Juracek and the Village Board extended their congratulations to Deputy Fire Chief
Dawson.
Fire Chief John Malcolm introduced Fire Lieutenant Brian Lambel who after establishing a
distinguished career with the Mount Prospect Fire Department would be sworn in as Battalion
Chief. Lieutenant Lambel introduced his wife who was in attendance.
Village Clerk Lisa Angell administered the Oath of Office to Battalion Chief Lambel,
Mayor Juracek and the Village Board extended their congratulations to Battalion Chief Lambel.
C. "Advancing Arboriculture Award to Ms. Sandra Clark, Mount Prospect Forestry /Grounds
Superintendent
Ms. Sandra Clark, Public Works Forestry /Grounds Superintendent received the Advancing
Arboriculture Award from the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). Ms. Peggy Drescher,
Midwest Regional Outreach Coordinator for TCIA presented the award which is annually
awarded to a government agency, institution or green industry partner that has worked to
advance legislation, regulation or practices favorable to the tree care industry.
Ms. Drescher highlighted Ms. Clark's distinguished career as a tree specialist and her many
contributions to the industry stating; "Ms. Clark has been a defender of trees for more than thirty
(30) years and a worthy recipient of the TCIA award."
Mayor Juracek and the Village Board congratulated Ms. Clark and thanked her for her leadership
and work dedicated to the Village's urban forestry program.
Ms. Clark thanked TCIA for the honor. She also thanked the Mayor and Village Board for their
continued support of the Village's tree program.

Every Saturday night from 6 — 9 pm; Metra Lot
Trustee Polit stated the first night was a huge success; largest turnout since incepetion of the
event.
■ Public Works Open House — May 19
Public Works Director Sean Dorsey stated this event was also very well attended. Great
attendance with a lot of tired kids!
OTHER BUSINESS OTHER BUSINESS
Trustee Korn reminded everyone of the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27 The
parade begins after the 9:37 a.m. train passes through downtown. The parade will end at Lions
Park for a Memorial Day service.
