RELATIONS COMMISSION

Music drive:
Ms. Rose followed up on an item of old business (used band uniforms), Ms. Rose stated that Prospect
High School (PHS) band was selling their old uniforms to previous members of the band and using the
remaining uniforms as material for other fund raising methods for the PHS band. There will be no further
action taken with this idea. Ms. Rose would still like to explore a way to promote of music within the
community as a means to assist disadvantaged youth.
VI, NEW BUSINESS
The commission has a strong desire to be more proactive in the community and will be formulating some
plans based on their ideas to get more involved with the community i.e. continue the food drive efforts
and history heritage awareness months. In light of the presentation provided by the mayor at a previous
meeting, the commission requested more direction as to what they are permitted to do and how they are
able to do it. Mr. Schmalzer stated he will be reaching out to the Village Manager's office to seek
guidance as he starts putting the food drive plans together for 2013.
VII. CORRESPONDENCE
None
The commissioners were presented with their "Thank You" box of candy from the Mayor and the Village
Board.
The next meeting will be held on February 7, 2013.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. after a motion was made by Commissioner Schmalzer and seconded
by Commissioner Parikh. The motion was approved unanimously.
