IV. HOMES FOR A CHANGING REGION
Over the past year, member communities of the Northwest Suburban Housing Collaborative have
been engaged in the Homes for a Changing Region (Homes) planning process. The Homes
report is presently in its final stages and a draft of the report has been completed. The Homes
report is divided into three sections: 1) A sub - regional housing analysis developed to identify
housing trends /issues for the entire Collaborative area; 2) Five local housing plans focusing on
housing issues within each of the individual Collaborative communities; and 3) an appendix. The
draft report provided for the Committee of the Whole only includes information related to Mount
Prospect as the other four local plans is not included. The project team is seeking final comments
related to Section two of this draft document. After this review, the complete Homes for a
Changing Region report will go to print and be made available to the public.
Appropriate staff will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate discussion.
V. POTENTIAL TEXT AMENDMENTS - PREVIEW
The Community Development Department is in the process of drafting text amendments to the
Village's Zoning and Sign Codes. Periodically staff review's the Code's to ensure they are up to
date with current policies and development practices. The revisions are intended to address
various topics including fences, parking, land use tables, landscaping, sign requirements, and
others. Discussion will highlight areas staff is reviewing for potential amendments and determine if
additional sections of the code should be added. Formal text amendments will be presented to the
Village Board and Planning and Zoning Commission in Spring of 2013 along with updates to the
Building and Property Maintenance sections of the Village Code.
