MEETING MINUTES
May 3, 1997 -- Village Hall
1. Meeting called to order at 0902 hours. Leo Floros presiding.
2. Roll call. Attending - Lit Floros, Leo Floros, Steve Durlacher, Laura Luteri, Linda Hoefert, Coralyn Dunn, Elmer
Blasco,
3. Minutes of April 12 meeting approved, with correction.
4. Financial report distributed to members. Cash balance - $3,026.90.
5. Elmer Blasco reported on Veterans Memorial Foundation activities. Fund raising activities continue. Now in
process of distributing brochure counter displays to local businesses. Aim to position 100 prior to June 1 when
reference will be made to the Memorial funding on Village water bill. Foundation preparing memorial "In
Memorium" material to local funeral directors as a result of recent request by local family, at their wake, to make
dnnntinns, in lieu of flowers, to the Memorial fund. No word from request to U.S.Robotics for funds.
5a. Laury Youngquist arrived.
6. Do It Yourself Sousa report by Laura Luteri. Sousa concert preparations "on track ". 30 musicians already
signed up but expect more shortly as a result of publicity by Herald. Nationally known jazz trumpeter has been
s;g ^p- �s s ^!ois;. Requested help from Commission members in organizing performances. Rehearsal dates have
been set.
6a. Fran Higley arrived.
6b. Adriane Lewis arrived.
7. "Welcome to Mount Prospect" event, scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 1 - 3 p.m. in Senior Citizens Center
discussed. Invitation mailed to 350 new citizens. 38 responded. Lil Floros requested volunteers to phone "non -
respondents" and remind of vent. Lists of names distributed to Commission members.
8. 4th of July parade. No report.
9. Holiday events calendar discussed. No decisions made.
10. Shining Star Awards. Laura Luteri stated list of awards established with only one change from previous year.
Special award being considered by selection committee. New member begin considered to replace resigning
member.
11. Laury Youngquist commented on Art Fair, scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Art Council
seeking more artist to participate.
12. Corkie Dunn complimented on choice of "goodies ".
13. Meeting adjourned at 1010 hours.
