Saturday, November 1, 1997
ATTENDING: Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Jill Friedrichs, Fran Higley, Linda Hoefert, Mike
Janonis, Laura Luteri, Bill Tucker, Laury Youngquist, Guest: Dale Draznin
1. The meeting was called to order by Lil Floros. Minutes of the October 4, 1997 meeting were
approved.
2. Financial Report. Balance October 31, 1997 - $1,817.29.
3. Welcome to Mount Prospect. The event was very good, although not many people attended. Dale
Draznin, who worked at the library exhibit and also helped escort citizens around, attended to share in the
discussion on how to bring in more people. Some suggestions:
a. Talk to Chamber to suggest businesses provide certificates for free services.
b. Need an incentive, such as raffle prizes, etc.
c. Open up invitation to anyone interested, not only to new members.
d. Phone calls were not productive, but if the idea is used again, calls should be made at night.
A committee of Mike Janonis, Leo and Lil Floros, Janice Farley and Dale Draznin will meet and set a
date for the next "Welcome."
4. Holiday Events Calendar. Should be in the mail very soon.
5. Sounds of the Season. There has been a good response from the letters sent out. Fran Higley is
making follow -up calls. Rehearsal is at 3:00 p.m. and program at 4:00 p.m. Participants are asked to
wear holiday sweaters.
6. Celestial Celebration. Invitations are out. Theme is Mardi Gras. Favors will be hurricane glasses
filled with curled ribbon. They will be stored at Public Works until February.
7. Shining Stars. 15 nominations have been received to date. Deadline is November 14,
8. Veteran's Memorial. Linda Hoefert announced that School District 57 will host a Veteran's Day walk
from Fairview School to Village Hall honoring veterans of all wars. Each participant will donate $1.00
which will be presented to the Veteran's Memorial Committee.
9. Art Fair. There will be a meeting Monday, November 3, 1997 of concerned citizens to discuss the
fate of this event.
10. 2000 Event. No plans have been made at this time.
