Saturday, October 5, 1996
ATTENDING: Elmer Blasco, Steve Durlacher, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Janice Farley, Jill Friedrichs,
Linda Hoefert, Adriane Lewis, Laura Luteri, Terri Pistone, Skip Farley (Guest)
1. The meeting was called to order by Leo Floros at the Rob Roy Club House. Breakfast was served by
Terri Pistone. Minutes of the August 31, 1996 meeting were approved.
2. Finance Report. No activity since last report.
3. Anti -Drug March. There will be a bus service taking people from Randhurst to downtown. Walk
starts at 1:30 p.m. at First Chicago Bank and ends at Randhurst. Most of the commission members are
volunteering.
4. Veteran's Memorial. The insert in the Village newsletter is bringing in contributions. There is around
$30,000 in the bank account. Tax status is still pending. Committee will meet Monday evening to
discuss game -plan for raising funds.
5. Celestial Celebration. Black & white with accents of red are the colors. The favor will be a bud vase
etched with star logo and will hold a long - stemmed red carnation. Busse Florist is donating the
carnations. Centerpiece is yet to be decided upon. Park Ave band will be playing again at the same price.
Bristol Count will be serving complimentary hot hors d'oeuvres before the dinner. They also will be
serving complimentary wine during the dinner. Menu is tomato bisque soup, dinner salad, chicken with
basil cream sauce over fettuccini alfredo, platters of beef, loaves of bread & Cherry Jubilee on white cake.
Order forms and tickets are printed. Letters will go out soon.
6. Shining Stars. Laura has been receiving nominations. A television spot on Channel 6 is announcing
the event.
7. House Decorating Contest. Application blanks will be included in next Village newsletter.
8. Sounds of the Season. Volunteers are needed. Elmer Blasco will again be parking lot attendant.
Terri Pistone & Steve Durlacher will give out hats and help people register. Lil will ask Fran Higley to be
in charge of refreshments. A large group of children from Palatine will be singing in the chorus.
9. Leo distributed a list of Special Events activities and who is responsible for each one.
10. Next meeting will be at Village Hall at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2. Bill Tucker will be
bringing the donuts (or whatever)!
