REQUEST FOR CLASS R LIQUOR LICENSE
TUCCIO'S FRESH ITALIAN KITCHEN,
106 WEST NORTHWEST HIGHWAY
On Tuesday, June 17, 2003, the Village Manager met with Mr. Thomas Rose regarding
his request for the issuance of a new Class R Liquor License to be utilized in
conjunction with the operation of his proposed restaurant at the above location. The
Class R designation provides for the serving of alcoholic beverages at dining tables
only.
Tuccio's Fresh Italian Kitchen will be located in the Clocktower Shopping Center in the
former Pickerman's Sandwich Shop location. The restaurant will serve a variety of
Italian cuisine including pasta, pizza and sandwiches. The operating format is similar to
a Corner Bakery in that food is ordered at the counter but brought to tables by wait staff.
A lunch and dinner menu will be offered. The restaurant will be open seven days a
week. Outside dining in the central vestibule will be provided, Mr. Rose and his
partner, John Messina, would like to offer beer, wine and if the demand is there, a
variety of mixed drinks.
Both Mr. Rose and Mr. Messina have extensive experience in the restaurant business
including employment with Hotel Nikko, Connie's Pizza and Wolfgang Puck. Both are
Basset certified. This is Messrs. Rose and Messina's first effort at operating their own
restaurant. If they are successful, they hope to franchise the concept in the future.
he Village Manager discussed at length with the applicant the Village's particular
sensitivities to the sale of alcohol to minors and over service to clearly intoxicated
individuals. The Village Manager also indicated that the applicant was responsible for
the actions of all employees and managers. Mr. Rose indicated he had read the
Village's rules and regulations in this regard and understood all of the Village's
requirements. He also stated that Mr. Messina would be the day-to-day Manager of the
operation and was also familiar with our regulations.
The required application is complete and on file along with the payment of appropriate
fees and other documentation. Messrs. Rose and Messina have submitted to the
required fingerprinting and background checks.
If the Village Board considers this request favorably, adoption of an Ordinance creating
a new Class R Liquor License would be appropriate.
