VI DISCOUNT TAXI SERVICE
It may be appropriate at this t~me to rewew the D~scount Tard Program Some
senior citizens have complained about poor service On the other hand, the taxi-
cab drivers complmn about having to subsidize these riders
Human Services staff conducted a survey of program card holders and other
~nterested semor cmzens E~ghty-three percent of those surveyed v, ere tn favor
of a new program which would require the Vdlage to pay 40% of the actual
metered rate whale the rider would pay 60% w~th a maximum Vdlage co-payment
of $3 00 per nde The increase for the Vdlage contnbunon would be mtmmal and
would be within the current budget bmas Staff recommends that we change to
the 40/60 metered program
VII ',IELAS PARK AGREEMENT
Vdlage staff has reviewed the Melas Park Agreement Iorwarded to us by the
Mount Prospect Park District Attached ts a recommended version ot the
Agreement prepared by the Vdlage Attorney which incorporates staff comments
and protects the Vdlage's ~nterests
ViII PROSPECT AVENUE SIGNAGE/COLLFCTION BOXES
Attached ts the recommendation of the Safety Commission regarding the parking
s~gnage and the placement of collection boxes along Prospect Avenue W~th
Committee approval, appropriate ordinance changes wall be drafted for a fu~'

IX REOUEST FOR OUTDOOR CAFE
The owners of Sam's Place, 15 West Prospect Avenue, would like to have an
outdoor cafe on the sidewalk m front of their barldmg Sxdewalk cafes are
perrmtted under Chapter 9 of the Village Code The request ~s to perrmt serwce
at the s~dewalk cafe until 10 00 p m, where the Code only perrmts until 7 00 p m
The requester states that 7 PM is at the beginning of his dinner period and m
order to be a successful option, a later time period is needed
