I. CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL II. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF JUNE 14, 1994 III. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD IV. PRELIMINARY REVIEW OF UPDATED COMPREHENSIVE PLAN Over the past 45 days, the Planning staff has undertaken a review and update of the Village's Comprehensive Plan. Interim updates are undertaken approximately every two years. The last update of the Comprehensive Plan took place in 1992. The review process has involved almost all operating Department Departments/Divisions as well as soliciting input from other governmental entities which serve the citizens of Mount Prospect. The Plan Commission also played an integral role in the review process through their review, commentary and suggested changes. The recent discussion regarding the extension of Meier Road and its relationship to the Comprehensive Plan highlight the importance of this document as a community planning tool. A portion of the information package contains an article that explains the purpose of a Comprehensive Plan and its role in the development of a community. The Comprehensive Plan serves as a long-range planning policy guide that provides current and future Village Boards, staff, residents and developers with direction on how Mount Prospect should be developed. Statutory dictates require that a Public Hearing be held prior to the final adoption of the Comprehensive Plan. Due to the size and complexity of the document, a preliminary review by the Village Board would be helpful in preparing for said Public Hearing. Based on this preliminary discussion, staff can make adjustments to the Plan as well as determine the best way to solicit community-wide comment. Appropriate staff will be in attendance Tuesday evening to answer questions and facilitate discussion. Members of the Plan Commission have also been invited to attend and participate in the review.
