AN ORDINANCE AMENDING HEIGHT PROVISIONS IN CER-
TAIN SINGLE FAMILY DISTRICTS OF CHAPTER 14
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS,
REGARDING RADIO AND TELEVISION TOWERS
WHEREAS, the Catholic Archdiocese, by the Catholic Bishop
of Chicago, has requested a text amendment to allow radio and
television transmitting and receiving towers to be erected to
a maximum height of 80 feet for religious, cultural, institu-
tional and municipal services within the R-X, R-1 and R-A
Single Family Residence Districts as regulated by Chapter 14
of the Village Code of Mount Prospect, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on said zoning text
amendment application (designated as Case No. ZBA-48-A-82) be-
fore the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Mount Pros-
peet on the 20th day of October, 1982, pursuant to proper
publication of due notice thereof in the Mount Prospect Herald,
on the 12th day of October , 1982; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has forwarded its
findings and recommendation to the Board of Trustees of the
Village that the requested text amendment be approved to
provide for a maximum height of eighty feet regarding radio
and television transmitting and receiving antenngs and towers
in the R-X, R-1 and R-A Single Family Residence Districts,
as regulated by Chapter 14 of the Village Code; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the
Village of Mount Prospect that said text amendment be adopted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY,
ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: Chapter 14 of the Village Code of Mount Prospect,
Illinois, 19'81, as amended, is hereby further amended by
amending Sections 14.1004.C of Article X pertaining to the
R-X Single Family Residence District, Section 14.1104.C of
Article XI pertaining to the R-1 Single Family Residence
District, and Section 14.1204.C of Article XII pertaining
to the R-A Single Family Residence District to substitute
therefore the following provision, to read:
C. The following uses shall be excluded from the height
regulations contained in this Section:
Federally licensed amateur radio operators
transmitting antenna towers with a maximu3n
height of sixty feet (60') and such antenna
towers, including tower structures, having
an overall height of not more than seventy
feet (70');

A single federally licensed radio or television
transmitting or receiving antenna tower per
institution with a maximum height of seventy

feet (70') and such antenna tower, including
tower structures, having an overall height of
not more than eighty feet (80') when such antenna
tower is located on the same lot or parcel as
a permitted educational, religious or municipal
use, and is used by such institution in con-
junction with the broadcasting of educational,
religious or cultural programs or municipal
services;

SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet
form as provided by law.
