Scott Guest~: Bill Blaine Staff Liaison: Maura Jandris The meeting was called to order at 5:31 p.m. Fred Thulin moved to approve the Minutes of the November 7, 2002 Commission Meeting. Paul Seils seconded. Motion was called and carried. 1. Old Business Church Banner Dorothy Kucem read a letter from J. L. Scott who had been coordinating the church banner but was unable to attend the meeting. Mr. Scott had coordinated the banner touring the participating Mount Prospect Churches before it is sent to S~wes. All the churches were appreciating their time with the quilt. The Commission requested that Barbara Fry, the woman who created the quilt, be invited to the next Commission meeting. Cooking Classes Staff Liaison Maura lanckis and Carol Bloomquist have plans to visit local facilities in the hope of find'rog a suitable location to hold the class. Winter Parade Several volunteers of the Commission served cookies at the Village's Winter Parade on December 7. The cookies were donated by the Bohemia Trading Corporation Bakery. The total expenditures were $42.00 (a gift in appreciation for the donation). 4. Other News Trip to S~vres - May $-9 The Commission discussed their trip to S~vres in the spring. They will be in S~vres fzom May 5-9. Mayor Farley received correspondence from Mayor Koscinsko-Morizet that there would be accommodations in private homes for up to 20 people. The following members plan to attend: Farley (2, Floros (2), Scott (2), Kucera (1), Blaine (2), Pastor Kirk Reed (1). Members were urged to make reservations by March I. Rates were estimated to be approximately $660 round trip non-stop Chicago to Pads. Mayor Farley will contact Mayor Kosciusko-Morizet for an idea of the schedule of events. Service organizations in the community will be contacted to determine if they have any interest in sending representatives. The Commission suggested sending out press releases about the trip. Illinois Sister Cities Convention The Commission members reviewed materials for the State Sister Cities Convention to be held on April 4-5 in Elk Grove Village. The Commission decided that the commission would pay 'A of the $50 registration fee ($25) for members who were interested in attending the convention. Sevres Student - Internship A student from S~vres had inquired about an internship in Mount Prospect, and the Chamber of Commeme was in the process of trying to make arrangements for a possible internship for her. The Chamber asked the Commission to assist with providing accommodations for the student. The meeting was adjourned at 6:25p. m.
