IV. RAILROAD GRADE SAFETY CROSSING PROGRAM
At the December 12, 1995 Committee of the Whole meeting, the Village Board
requested that the Safety Commission review the Village's Railroad Safety Program
and make recommendations for any improvements. Following the Board's direction,
significant time was spent discussing the Village's Railroad Safety Program at the
February, March and May Safety Commission meetings. In addition, Commissioner
Arlene Juracek and Traffic Engineer Sean Won attended the Railroad Crossing
Safety Summit in April. The results of this effort are contained in the attached
"Review of Railroad Grade Crossing Safety Program" with specific
recommendations being found on page 6 of the report. Also included in the
package are the Minutes of the Safety Commission meetings where this item was
discussed.
Appropriate staff and members of the Safety Commission will be on hand to review
the report and answer questions.
V. AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 5 - BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
One of the items which made the revised Deferred Items list was a request by Mayor
Farley to review certain aspects of Chapter 5 of the Village Code-Boards and
Commissions for the purpose of considering modifications to the way Chairmanships
are determined and to consider the possibility of limiting the term of a Chairman for
the purpose of fostering greater rotation.
Attached is a memorandum from Village Attorney Everette Hill describing the
general concept of the proposal along with Mayor Farley's original request form.
Based on the discussion and consensus of the Board, an Ordinance making agreed
upon changes would be drafted and forwarded to the various Boards and
Commissions for comment.
Appropriate staff will be in attendance to answer questions and facilitate discussion.
