MOTION: TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 5, 2002 YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING.
AMEND: TO CORRECT SPELLING OF PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBER'S NAME TO BETH MOKATE.

MR. BRAUS APPEARED BEFORE THE YOUTH COMMISSION TO INVITE MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN
"ROCK FEST" ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2002 FROM 12:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. FOUR LOCAL BAR
BANDS WILL BE PLAYING AT THE LIONS PARK BANDSHELL. PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT WILL BE SENT
TO THE NEW YORK POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS WIDOWS AND ORPHANS FUND. YOUTH
COMMISSION MEMBERS WERE INVITED TO ASSIST SELLING POP AND COLLECTING DONATIONS.
ALDEN MORIARTY~ CITIZEN
MR. MORIARTY SPOKE TO THE YOUTH COMMISSION ABOUT AN INCIDENT INVOLVING HIS TWO SONS, 13
AND 9 YEARS OF AGE, AND A COUPLE OF THEIR FRIENDS. HE RELATED HIS OLDER SON PURCHASED A
CAN OF BUTANE LIGHTER FLUID FROM HOT RAGS AT RANDHURST. MR. MORIARTY SPOKE TO THE
MANAGEMENT OF HOT RAGS REGARDING THIS INCIDENT AND THEY TOLD HIM IT WAS LEGAL TO SELL
THESE ITEMS TO YOUTH.
YOUTH COMMISSION DISCUSSED THE ISSUE AND CONSIDERED BRINGING IT UP AT THE NEXT COFFEE
WiTH COUNCIL MEETING. DISCUSSION FOCUSED ON THE POSSIBLITY OF RESEARCH ON HAZARDOUS
MATERIALS AND THE REGULATING OF THE SALE OF TOBACCO RELATED CHEMICALS TO YOUTH.
CHAIRMAN CORORAN SUGGESTED A POSSIBLE DEBATE ON A FUTURE YOUTH VIEW PROGRAM ON
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AVAILABLE TO YOUTH.

JULY 4TM PARADE
CO-CHAIRMAN KlM UNGER WROTE THANK YOU LETTER TO COMPANY THAT SUPPLIED CANDY TO THE
YOUTH COMMISSION FOR THE JULY 4TM PARADE. THEY RESPONDED WITH A THANK YOU AND
PROMISED FUTURE ASSISTANCE WITH YOUTH COMMISSION EVENTS.

IN ADDITION TO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, MEMBERS DISCUSSED FUTURE PROGRAM TOPICS.
CHAIRMAN CORCORAN SUGGESTED THE YOUTH COMMISSION SEND A THANK YOU GIFT TO MR.
CLOWES AND HIS STAFF FOR THEIR HELP WITH YOUTH VIEW.

TO SEND COOKIES BY DESIGN GIFT TO MR.. CLOWES AND HIS STAFF FOR THEIR
ASSISTANCE IN THE PRODUCTION OF YOUTH VIEW PROGRAMS.

CHAIRMAN CORCORAN SUGGESTED THE ELECTION FOR TREASURER AND HISTORIAN BE HELD AT THE
SEPTEMBER MEETING PENDING APPOINTMENT OF NEW YOUTH COMMISSION APPLICANTS.
YOUTH COMMISSION T-SHIRTS
MEMBERS DISCUSSED THE PURCHASE OF T-SHIRTS FOR NEW MEMBERS. CATALOGS TO BE BROUGHT
TO SEPTEMBER MEETING FOR FURTHER DISCUSSSION. BRENT BUSSE TO CONTACT MAURA JANDRIS
REGARDING LOCAL COMPANIES USED BY THE VILLAGE.

YOUTH COMMISSION WEBSITE TO BE UPDATED WITH NEW MEMBERS, NEW OFFICERS AND RETIRED
YOUTH COMMISSION MEMBERS. BRENT BUSSE TO TALK WITH MAURA TO SCHEDULE DATE FOR

LARRY BRAUS, MOUNT PROSPECT JAYCEES INVITED YOUTH COMMISSION MEMBERS TO ATTEND ANY
JAYCEES MEETING, 2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH AT MR. BEEF AND PIZZA. HE EXPRESSED THEIR
SUPPORT OF THE YOUTH COMMISSION AND ADVISED THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP THE
COMMISSION WITH ANY FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
