PROCLAMA TION
"NA TIONAL ENGINEERS WEEK"
FEBRUARY 20-26,2005
WHEREAS, National Engineer's Week was founded in 1951 and is always
celebrated at the time of George Washington's birthday, our nation's first
president and a military engineer and land surveyor; and
WHEREAS, the United States recognizes that engineers have used their scientific
and technical knowledge and skills in creative and innovative ways to fulfill
society's needs; and
WHEREAS, engineersface the major technological challenges of our time-from
rebuilding towns devastated by natural and human-created disasters to designing
an iriformalion superhighway that has taken our country into the twenty-first
century; and
WHEREAS, engineers are encouraging our young math and science students to
realize the practical power of their knowledge; and
WHEREAS, we increasingly look to engineers, and their knowledge and skill,
to meet the challenges of the future.
NOw, THEREFORE, l, Gerald 1. Farley, Mayor of the Village of Mount
Prospect, do hereby proclaim February 20-26, 2005 as
"NATIONAL ENGINEERS WEEK"
and I further extend appreciation to our Village engineers and engineering staff
for the vital services they perform and their contributions to this community.
