RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION CONTINUING THE CABLE TELEVISION PUBLIC ACCESS
CO~~ISSION FOR THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect have entered into a Franchise Agreement for the
construction and operation of a Cable Television System within
the corporate limits of the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, the Cable Television System is available to all
residents of the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, in accordançe with the Cable Television Franchise granted
by the Village of, Mount Prospect, numerous public access channels
ar~ provided as a means of communications and expression for
community groups, institutions and individuals within the
Mount, Prospect community; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and j3oarc1 of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect believe that a process of public education is
necessary in order to make members of our community aware of
these public access channels on Cabl~ Television; . and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees believed it to be in
the best interests of the V~llage of Mount Prospec~ to create a
Commission for the purpose of promoting the various Cable
Television Public Access Channels when they passed Resolution,
No. 12-83.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT BE RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect does approve the ".
continüation of the Cable Television Public Access Commissiøn,
comprised of Mount Prospect residents.
SECTION TWO: That the primary purpose of the Mount Prospect Cable
Television Public Access Commission shall be to encourage the use
of public access channels to include the widest possible range of
institutions, groups and individuals.
SECTION THREE: The duties and responsibilities of the Mount Prospect
Cable Television Public Access Commission shall be as follows:

To promote the use of local public access channels;
To work with local community groups in determining
how they might better use the local access channels;
To review the public access policies of the local
cable company and to relay to the Board, or its agent,
information on the appropriateness of those policies;
To inform the coITIDunity of the public access rules
and regulations publised by the local cable company;
To educate the community to the potential uses of
Cable Television.

SECTION FOUR: That the Mount Prospect Cable Television Public
Access Co~~ission shall consist of a Chairman and four (4) Cormission
me:-nbers, ê.S ê.ppointed by the !'1ayor with the consent of the B(~arcl of
Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, for ter~s of four (4)
years or until such time as a successor has been duly appointed
ê.nr} qualified.
SECTIO~ FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect fro:-n and after its passage and approval in the manner
provided by law.
