AND
NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE "
SEPTEMBER 11, 2012
WHEREAS, today we remember and honor those individuals who tragically perished in the
senseless and destructive acts of terrorism on September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, remembering this tragic event allows its to recognize the heroic sacrifices and
generosity of our nation's military service members, firefighters, rescue workers, law
enforcement and public irorks personnel, and citizens; and
WHEREAS, September 11 shall always be a sad reminder of the physical and emotional
devastation of global conflict; yet it is also a day to unite with hope and vision for world
peace; and
WHEREAS, on ,September 11, 2012, we are strengthened by the wisdom, courage and
compassion of those who pursue peace and justice in the world; and
WHEREAS, on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, we pledge to
carry on the legacy of courage and compassion of the selfless heroes and innocent victims of
September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, all residents and businesses are encouraged to fly the United States flag at
half -staff and observe a moment of silence on September 11 to honor those who died, and as
a reminder of the freedom we cherish and a sign of solidarity and support for our country.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim SEPTEMBER 11, 2012 as
"PATRIOT DAY
AND
NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE "
in the Village ofMoimt Prospect, and I encourage all Americans to join together in serving their
communities and neighborhoods in honor of the victims of the September 11 attacks. "
