John Elenberger inquired about the Yellow Dot Program. Chief Malcolm gave an overview of
the Yellow Dot Program and mentioned the packets can be picked up in the Human Services
Department at Village Hall or at www.yellowdotillinois.org The yellow dot program provides
important medical information to first responders when they arrive at an accident scene. The
yellow dot is placed in the rear window of the vehicle.
Walter Szymczak asked about the status of electric aggregation. Mr. Strahl stated that this issue
is moving forward and will be going before the Village Board at their next meeting on May 15.
The Village is preparing a Request for Proposal (RFP) and hoping to receive bids by June 5.
Frank Carioti raised concerns about significant traffic in the alley behind his home. He stated
that he appreciates the response from Public Works and the Police Department, but there is still
large commercial traffic using the alley. In late February /early March the snow took down a
utility pole. The response from ComEd was good but Comcast, AT &T and WOW are still on the
old pole, which is sagging. Mr. Carioti stated that he called Comcast and WOW, but they said
they couldn't do anything about it. He said he would like the old pole removed and the utilities
transferred to the new pole. Mr. Strahl will follow -up with the utility companies.
Jan Kent stated that the Village is replacing sod in the Briarwood subdivision, but that an area
of 12' x 8' by the flower bed still needs sod. Mr. Strahl advised her to call Public Works to
request sod, but that the tree branches need to be cleaned up by Nicor.

Barbara and Steve VanArsdale mentioned that they lost a major parkway tree as it was
wrapped around gas lines and a water main in the parkway. They commented the Public Works
Department did a great job repairing the parkway.
Michael Hardiman inquired as to when Willie Street will be repaved. He stated that there is a
large pot hole in front of his house. Mr. Strahl advised him to call Public Works regarding the
pot hole and to check the Village website for the street resurfacing schedule.
Max Romanowicz asked if another food store will be moving into Mount Prospect Plaza now
that Garden Fresh is closing. Mr. Strahl stated there are no plans for another grocery store at this
time. Mr. Romanowicz raised concerns about the no left turn sign at Rand and Central, which
has a left turn signal and a no turn on red at the same intersection. Staff will look in to this and
report back. Trustee Hoefert brought up that the exit out of Mount Prospect Plaza on to Rand
needs to be changed. Mr. Romanowicz stated that the home at 1201 Ardyce Lane is in poor
condition and part of the rear siding and gutter is falling down and asked if the Village could
look in to the condition of this home. Staff will follow up on this issue.
Helen Elk commended the professionalism of the Mount Prospect Police Department. She also
wants the citizens of Mount Prospect to be educated on the issues with ComEd's new smart
meters. Ms. Elk wants to be able to opt out of having a smart meter installed on her home. She
will call ComEd on this issue. She will bring additional information on smart meters to the next
coffee with council meeting.
Thomas Tezky mentioned that there are two large evergreens in close proximity to his power
lines. He stated that he does not have the resources to cut the trees down, which are only three
feet below the lines. Mr. Strahl advised him to call ComEd to come out to determine if they
need to be trimmed.
Mal Holec asked about the Journal article which referenced a fee change for electric service.
Mr. Strahl explained that the Journal article was wrong and gave an overview of the electric
aggregation process. Mr. Strahl stated that he could answer any additional specific questions
after the meeting.
Nancy Prichard, a Mount Prospect Public Library employee, stated that there is a blind spot at
the entrance of the parking deck. She asked whether parking spots 34, 65 and 77 could be
marked for compact cars only. Mr. Strahl will look in to this issue. She also indicated that there
is an issue enforcing speeding in the parking deck at Village Hall and asked whether the Police
Department could follow -up on this. Ms. Prichard also asked who regulates swimming pools
and Mr. Strahl advised her to contact Community Development.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:40 AM.
Respectfully Submitted,
John J. Malcolm
