Parades
The Commission discussed participation in Village parades. A budget discussion
followed. Lil moved that the Commission should participate in the parades and offered to
form a subcommittee. The Commission agreed and there was general consensus.
Peace Pole
John Eichman reported on his research into Peace Poles. He contacted the Peace Pole
company, and learned that the poles are 8 feet tall, red cedar wood, and are 4 or 6 sided.
The poles are $160 apiece and would cost an additional $175 to ship to S~vres. Another
option would be to order the plexiglass plates and ship them there, and they could get
their own pole. It was suggested to get a local business to sponsor the freight. The
Commission agreed to approve purchasing one Peace Pole for Mount Prospect and one
for S~vres.
Ms. Jandris announced that supplemental insurance coverage is available through Sister
Cities International for Commission Members traveling to S~vres.
