HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/10/2001 SCC minutesMOUNT PROSPECT SISTER CITIES COMMISSION Minutes May 10, 2001 ATTENDANCE: Tokiko Blaine, Carole Bloomquist, Yngve Bloomquist, Larry D'urso, Evelyn Eichman, John Eichrnan, Janice Farley, Skip Farley, Lil Floros, Melanie Karsen, Mike Karsen, Dorothy Kucera, J.L Scott, Paul Seils, Adelaide Thulin, Fred Thulin. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. New Commission members Evelyn and John Eichman were introduced. Old Business Mayor Farley announced that Barbara Persenaire had resigned as chair of the Commission, but would still be a member of the Commission. Dorothy Kucera will serve as acting chair. Melanie Karsen read excerpts from Le Sevrien, the newsletter from Sewes. Melanie also reviewed with the Commission em-ails from Mayor Kosciusko Morizet. New Business Dorothy and Carole announced that they had attended the Community Band's meeting where the band's trip to Sevres was discussed. They are planning on going in July or August of 2002. They would like the Commission to make arrangements with Sevres. Dorothy is working with them to make arrangement, and has sent an email to Didier in Sewes asking for his assistance. Committee Reports Service - the Committee reviewed letters that Trustee Wilks is planning to send to the Service groups. Business - no report Government- The fire departments of Mount Prospect and Sevres have been communicating via email. Schools - Melanie has been in contact with teachers here and is coordinating with contacts in Sewes to set up communication between students. Churches - Scotty sent letters to the Churches in Mount Prospect asking for ideas of how we could communicate with the churches in Sevres. One idea he received was to make a banner or quilt with someth'mg representing each of the churches in the community that we could send to Sewes. Another possibility was a pulpit exchange. Senior Groups - it was decided that this group would be included within the other subcommittees. The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
