"NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK"
JUNE 2-8, 20O2
WHEREAS, gardeners have a passion for discovering the beauty and resOUrces of
the earth through the planting of seeds, the nurturing of plants, and the harvesting
of their efforts; and
WHEREAS, gardeners seek to add splendor, fragrance and nutrition to our lives
through the growing of herbs, vegetables, foliage and flowers; and
WHEREAS, gardening instills a greater respect and care for the environment and
the natural resources that are so precious to the future and well-being of the world;
and
WHEREAS, gardening furnishes a challenging and productive activity for many
citizens, from our youth who might be just learning, to others with years of
experience; and
WHEREAS, gardening promotes a healthy lifestyle that lasts a lifetime, helps
reduce stress from other areas of our life, and teaches that rewards can come from
diligent efforts; and
WHEREAS, gardening enables members of Garden Clubs across the nation and
the world to serve others in the communities where they reside and work.
NO W, THEREFORE, I, GeraM L. Farley, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect,
do hereby proclaim June 2 - 8, 2002 to be
"NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK"
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and l commend the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
for their numerous contributions towards adding beauty to our world.

RESOLUTION OF ,4PPRECI,4 TION TO MS. LINDA ,4LLISON
FOR SER VICE TO THE VILL,4GE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, since 1973, MS, LINDA ALLISON has devoted herself to education, serving in
positions as language arts coordinator and director of reading and language arts for School
District 59, principal at neighboring Juliette Low Elementary School, and finally as principal of
Robert Frost Elementary School in the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, when MS. LINDA ALLISON became Principal of Robert Frost Elementary School
in 1994, she began the daunting task of unifying a diverse student population, implementing
community outreach programs, and ministering to both staff and the community the importance
of renewing their commitment to fostering lifelong learners with an emphasis on citizenship,
leadership, and scholarship; and
WHEREAS, under the tutelage of MS. L1NDA ALLISON, Robert Frost School has emerged as a
school committed to academic excellence, where community pride and involvement are evident
immediately upon entering its doors; and
WHEREAS, MS. L1NDA ALLISON has made an enormous impact on Mount Prospect, with her
untiring efforts to unite school and community by extending the school day for families, by
instituting the "Good Morning Club, ' a breakfast program for children, by overseeing the
renovation of Robert Frost Elementary School, and by redefining the vision and mission of
Robert Frost Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, in 1998, M~ LINDA ALLISON's dedication to Mount Prospect's youth and
community was acknowledged, as the Village presented her with the Little Red School House
Shining Star Award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do
hereby acknowledge and recognize MS. LINDA ALLISON for her years of service to the Village
and hereby express our best wishes for a successful future.
SECTION TWO: That an official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and presented
to MS. LINDA ALLISON as a perpetual memento.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect fro,m .and after its
passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

RESOLUTION NO.
.4 RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO MR. D.4VID L.4RSEN
FOR SERVICE TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, early on, MR. DA VID LARSEN realized the importance of education and devoted
himself to educating youth for some thirty-three years, during which he has served as language
arts teacher, assistant principal, and the lust eight years serving us principal at John Jay
Elementary School, here in the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, MR. DAVID LARSENjoined School District 59 educators and administrators,
immediately recognizing the daunting challenges he faced, of blending cultures in a very
diverse student population while keeping education at the forefront; and
WHEREAS, MR. DAVID LARSEN immersed himself into creating an atmosphere of
acceptance and warmth, all the while laboring to develop ways of improving communication
with families and creating an institution that wouM address the needs of all attending; and
WHEREAS, during MR. DAVID LARSEN's tenure with John Jay Elementary School, he went
above and beyond the traditional boundaries of edueation by overseeing the implementation of
numerous programs such as "Saturday Drop~In," "Government Explorers," "Club Excel,"
and "A Day at Jay," giving parenis the opportunity to experience a typical day at John Jay
School; and
WHEREAS, the presence of MR. DA VID LARSEN has been felt, and will be missed, outside of
John Jay School, as he bus been an active member of the Mount Prospect Visions Committee
and in 1998 wus a recipient of the Mount Prospect Little Red School House Shining Star
Award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect
do hereby acknowledge and recognize MR. DA VID LARSEN for his years of service to the John
Jay Elementary School and the Mount Prospect community, and wish him a satisfying future.
SECTION TWO: That an official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and
presented to MR. DAVID LARSEN us a perpetual memento.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO MR. MICHAEL P. STEVENS
FOR SERVICE TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, for the last eight years, the Village of Mount Prospect has been fortunate to have
MR. MICHAEL STEVENS as Principal of Prospect High School, which serves approximately
1,900 students within Mount Prospect and portions of Arlington Heights and Prospect Heights;
and
WHEREAS, MR. MICHAEL STEVENS has dedicated some 34 years to educating and guiding
students in Township High School District 214, serving as a classroom teacher, baseball coach,
swim coach, assistunt principal for student services, associate principal, and principal; and
WHEREAS, MR. MICHAEL STEVENS has contributed greatly to the Prospect High School
Knights by overseeing the Knights' Way Program, promoting pride and respect among students
and staff In October, 2001 the Knights' Way Program was recognized by the Elinoiz State
Board of Education as members received the "Those Who Excel Award,' the State's highest
award, which is presented annually to outstanding individuals and teams of professionals in the
field of education; and.
WHEREAS, MR. MICHAEL STEVENS led Prospect High School and the community in the
"Team Prospect" program, which was extremely successful in promoting spirit and cooperation
among athletes, coaches, and parents, with the result being an elevated of respect throughout the
community. He has also contributed to the betterment of the community through his membership
in the Mount Prospect Rotary Club and as an Associate Board Director in the Mount Prospect
Chamber of Commerce.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOA~ OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do
hereby acknowledge and recognize MR. MICHAEL STEVENS for his years of service to the
Village and hereby express our best wishes for a successful future as he begins his retirement.
SECTION TWO: That an official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and presented
to MR. MICHAEL STEVENS as a perpetual memento.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
