The meeting was convened at 9:00 a.m. Those present were Mayor Skip Farley, Trustees Tim
Corcoran, Michaele Skowron, Irvana Wilks and Michael Zadel. Representing staff was Assistant
Village Manager David Strahl and Community Development Director William Cooney.
Residents in Attendance:

70 N. Albert
223 S. Elmhurst Ave.
512 Nawata
999 N. Elmhurst Rd.
Jim Corman, 1345 Indigo Drive: Mr. Corman stated that he recently read that Metra was
looking to expand several train station locations along the North Central rail line and that he
was concerned that they may expand the Prospect Heights facility. The article that he read
mentioned that Metra was working with several communities on these plans but did not
mention the Village of Mount Prospect. He inquired what discussions the Village has had to
date. Mr. Strahl stated that he was unaware of any specific expansion plans for the Prospect
Heights station but that he would investigate and get back to Mr. Corman. Mr. Corman
asked that if there were any plans that he would like to review them and ensure that proper
screening was provided for the adjacent neighbors.
Lee Williams, 70 N. Albert: Mr. Williams indicated that he was sorry to read that Mayor
Farley was not running for office in the next election and thanked him for his service to the
community. He stated that his problems in his townhome development had subsided and that
the new tenant in the adjacent unit was a good neighbor. He also said that he recently noticed
that a fox was walking around his neighborhood. There was general discussion about wild
animals in the Village.
Carol Tortorello, 223 S. Elmhurst Avenue: Ms. Tortorello asked ifthe Village had ever
considered leaving the holiday lights up year round. There was general discussion regarding
the pros and cons ofleaving the lights on, especially for certain special events. Ms. Tortorello
also inquired about the black plastic that was recently installed around the new streetscape
landscaping. She expressed her opinion that it did not look very nice, especially along Main
Street. Mr. Strahl informed Ms. Tortorello that this was done to protect the landscaping form
roadway salt and pollution.
Margaret Lannen, 999 N. Elmhurst Road: Ms. Lannen provided a brief status on
Randhurst. Costco was doing well, especially with the number of memberships that they are
selling at the Randhurst location. The average sale per customer is lower than they expected
but they expect that to increase over the coming months. She also stated that Buffalo Wild
Wings is hoping to be open before the end of the year and that the carousel will be up and
running by early December.
David Schein, 512 Nawata: Mr. Schein said he had a variety of minor issues to discuss. He
stated that the new commuter parking system would not recognize the new $20 bill and that
Glenview removed the entire system after repeated problems. In addition, this system
performs poorly in the winter months. Mr. Strahl stated that staff was working with the
vendor to address all issues and that an additional machine would soon be added to the
Maple Street lot to eliminate delays during peak times. Mr. Schein then stated that he hoped
that the Village would pursue the licensing of cats in the near future. Several trustees stated
that this topic would be on a future Committee of the Whole agenda for discussion.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
~\L 1. ~'t .
