Home My WebLink AboutRes 11-87 04/08/1987 RESOLUTION NO. 11-87 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT OF APRIL 7, 1987 WHEREAS, a regular election was held in and for the Village of Mount, Cook County, Illinois, on Tuesday, April 7, 1987, for the purpose of electing three (3) Village Trustees (4 year terms) and three (3) Library Trustees (6 year terms); and WHEREAS, the following referendum question (No.1) was presented to the electors of the Village of Mount Prospect, "Shall the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Mount Prospect authorize the construction of a new Public Works Facility to be located at Melas Park at a cost of $6,200,OOO?"; and WHEREAS, the following referendum question (No.2) was presented to the electors of the Village of Mount Prospect, "Shall the annual library tax for maintenance and operation of the Mount Prospect Public Library in the Village of Mount Prospect be increased from 0.23% of full fair cash value to 0.40% of full fair cash value of all taxable property, as equalized or assessed by the Illinois Department of Revenue?"; and WHEREAS, the local Canvassing Board has conducted the official canvass and presented the results; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby declare the results of the April 7, 1987, election for said Village. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That pursuant to the Consolidated Election Laws of the State of Illinois, a regular election was held for the Village of Mount Prospect on Tuesday, April 7, 1987. SECTION TWO: That an official canvass was conducted by the Local Canvassing Board for the Village of Mount Prospect declaring 6,290 ballots were cast as follows: Village Trustee - 3 Positions (4 year terms) Gerald L. "Skip" Farley Theodore J. Wattenberg George R. Van Geem Adelaide A. Thulin Frank G. Smith 4,051 3,810 3,276 2,283 1,974 Library Trustee - 3 Positions (6 year terms) Laura L. Luteri Jacqueline C. Hinaber James B. Nelson Judith F. Farley, Theodore J. Wattenberg and George R. Van Geem received the greatest number of votes, they and each of them are hereby declared elected to the Office of Village Trustee of the Village of Mount Prospect for four (4) year terms, commencing May 5, 1987. B} That inasmuch as Laura L. Luteri, Jacqueline C. Hinaber and James B. Nelson received the greatest number of votes, they and each of them are hereby declared elected to the Office of Library Trustees of the Mount Prospect Public Library for six (6) year terms, commencing May 5, 1987. C) That inasmuch as Referendum Question No.1 received the greatest number of YES votes, it is declared that this Question is passed. D) That inasmuch as Referendum Question No.2 received the greatest number of NO votes, it is declared that this Question failed. SECTION FOUR: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to forward, in the appropriate manner, the results of this proposition to the County Clerk and appropriate officials. SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
