HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 30-11 10/04/2011 The Release of Closed Session MinutesRESOLUTION NO. 30 -11 A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE RELEASE OF CLOSED SESSION MINUTES WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect have, from time to time, met in Closed Session for purposes authorized by the Illinois Open Meetings Act; and WHEREAS, as required by the Act, the Village Board has kept written minutes of all such Closed Sessions; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of Public Act 85 -1355, the President and Board of Trustees have met in Closed Session to review the minutes of all Closed Sessions; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have determined that a need for confidentiality still exists as to the Closed Session minutes for the meetings as set forth on Schedule A attached hereto; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have further determined that the minutes of Closed Sessions, as noted on Schedule A attached hereto, no longer require confidential treatment and should be made available for public inspection. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby authorize the release of the Closed Session minutes as indicated on Schedule A attached hereto. SECTION TWO: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to make said minutes available for inspection and copying in accordance with the standing procedures of the Clerk's Office. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. Personnel Discussion Police Chief Dahlberg provided an overview of the revised organizational chart of the pending layoffs incorporated into the chart. He also highlighted the changes in the operations and specialties. He further highlighted the change in supervisory personnel Manager Janonis provided an overview to the Village Board regarding the layoff notices and the process that will be underway at the end of the week. Chief Dahlberg left the meeting at this time. Litigation Discussion Village Manager Janonis provided a general discussion regarding Huang vs. Village of Mount Prospect fora trip,and fall case. He stated that the case is up for a status hearing at the end of the week. He is requesting Village Board authorization up to $75,000 to settle the case. The Board authorized the settlement amount. Settlement was accepted at $50,000 which is under the previously authorized limit of $75,000. Village Manager Janonis also provided an update to the Village Board on the YOTI legal fees and court hearing status. Assistant Village Manager David Strahl provided an overview of the settlement option to dispose of a pending workman's compensation case with a deceased former Fire Department employee. Village Board authorized settlement authority up to $75,000 to dispose of the case based on the potential exposure of the case due to the passing of the former employee.
