III. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
IV. BIKE PLAN
The Village's 2008 Public Transportation Study identified creating a bike plan as a key strategy to
pursue. In 2010, the Village was awarded a grant through the Department of Energy's Energy
Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program to fund the production of a bike plan. In
July 2010, the Village Board entered into a contract with Active Transportation Alliance to complete a
bike plan and map. The draft plan includes bicycle - related goals, an inventory and evaluation of
existing bicycle facilities and amenities, a proposed bicycle facility plan, and a detailed implementation
plan to achieve the goals.
A steering committee, consisting of Village and Mount Prospect Park District staff, oversaw the
development of the study. The consultant team gathered information and public input for the report
through an open house meeting, online survey, Facebook page, interactive website and map,
interviews with stakeholders, data from Census, public bike ride, and field observations.
Active Transportation Alliance and staff will present the Bike Plan findings and recommendations to
the Village Board for their review and consideration.
V. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT

Staff will provide an update on the status of the Village's downtown redevelopment efforts and of the
Tax Increment Financing District financials. In addition, staff will present some new marketing
proposals to attract new retail and restaurants into the downtown. Finally, staff will provide details on a
recently approved RTA grant ($80,000) to develop a strategic implementation plan to further
investment in a transit oriented district. This grant would cover the majority of the cost to hire a
consultant to review previous Ad -hoc Committee plans and recommend possible modifications to
those plans moving forward.
