TO CREATE A NEW CHAPTER 7 ENTITLED "SIGN ORDINANCE"

ORDINANCE NO. 3712
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 14 ENTITLED "ZONING" OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS TO PROVIDE FOR
CERTAIN CHANGES TO THE ZONING CODE AND TO CREATE A NEW
CHAPTER 7 ENTITLED "SIGN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF
MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Department of the Village of
MOunt Prospect has proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance to
remove all sign regulations from Chapter 14 (Zoning Ordinance)
and to enact a separate chapter in the Village Code of Mount
Prospect to include the current physical limitations on signs as
well as the sign design constraints; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on the variation request
(designated as Case No. ZBA 41-V-86) before the Zoning Board of
Appeals in the Village of Mount Prospect on the 10th day of
July, 1986, pursuant to due and proper notice thereof published
in the Mount Prospect Herald on the 24th day of June, 1986; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has submitted its findings
and recommendation to the Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have considered
further the amendments and the findings and recommendations of
the Zoning Board of Appeals and have determined that it is in the
best interest of the community to grant the amendment request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Chapter 14 entitled "Zoning" of the Village
Code of Mount Prospect, Illinois, 1981, as amended, is hereby
further amended by amending Section 14.2602.B entitled "Rules and
Definitions" of Article XXVI of said Chapter 14 and Article
XXVIII entitled "Sign Regulations" and all references relative to
signs within Chapter 14 as follows:

the following from Section 14.2602.B:

By amending Section 14.2503.A.10 to read as follows:
"10. That signs within the Planned Unit Development
shall be in harmony with the spirit and intent
of the Sign Ordinance of the Village."

SECTION TWO: That Chapter 7 of the Village Code of Mount
Prospect entitled "Reserved" is hereby amended by substituting
therefor an entirely new Chapter 7 entitled "Sign Ordinance"; so
that hereinafter, Chapter 7 of the Village Code of Mount Prospect
shall be and read as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto.
SECTION THREE: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in
pamphlet as provided by law.
