LIQUOR LICENSE REQUEST - CLASS W (RESTAURANT-
CONSUMPTION BEER & WINE ONLY)
PAD THAI RESTAURANT, 2310 SOUTH ELMHURST ROAD
On Tuesday, May 25, the Village Manager met with Roongtip Marompon and Nirum
Suntivivatanapong regarding their request for a Class W liquor License for Pad Thai
Restaurant. The Class W License provides for the sale of beer and wine at dining
tables only.
Pad Thai Restaurant is located in the Colony Square Shopping Center and has been in
operation for approximately seven months. The owners would like to include the sale of
beer and wine as an amenity that will enhance the restaurant's business. Traditional
Thai cuisine is served for lunch and dinner, seven days a week.
While this is the first ownership venture for Marompon and Suntivivatanapong, both
have had experience in the sale and delivery of alcohol through previous employment at
several Chicago area restaurants. The Village Manager reviewed with the applicants
the Village's particular sensitivity to the sale of alcohol to minors as well as over-service
to intoxicated persons. The Village Manager informed the principals they are
responsible for the actions of all employees and that it was imperative to establish an
appropriate training program as weli as management oversight regarding such sales.
Both indicated they had read the Village Code and understood all of the requirements.
A completed application is on file with all required fees paid. The principals have
submitted to fingerprinting and background checks. Appropriate insurance
documentation will be forthcoming. if considered favorably, an Ordinance providing for
the creation of an additional Class W License is in order.
