organizations we belong to.
IV. REPORTS: Old Business
a) French Market: Maura El Metennani gave a full written report with pictures that is
attached to these minutes. The event was well attended and made $536.00 .
b) Wine Tasting: Lorrie Huber reported on the Wine Tasting on 11/4/2010 at Vino 100.
$710. was collected at the door. We were also to receive 5% of sales for the
evening. Wal -Mart provided a $30. gift card. The flyer was very nice and many
email addresses were collected at the event.
c) Book Crossing: The Sibrava's are out of town but provided a written report that is
attached to the minutes. Some discussion ensued around continuing book
discussions and developing a program that included Middle School students and
possibly the French Club at the high school. (See report for details.)
d) Trip to France September 24 to October 1, 2010: Denise Rano facilitated and went
on the Community trip to France organized with CET Travel. A full report is
attached to the minutes. The trip was very successful. 25 individuals participated in
the trip. It was suggested that Denise present a slide show at the Pot Luck,
4/4/2011 of the trip to France.
V. Discussions:
a) 2011 Commission trip to Sevres: Irvana was not in attendance so Dorothy led a
discussion sharing thoughts about the trip. Timing was discussed. The first week of
June 2011 appeared to be the preferred week. In the past the Official Visit was about 4
days. The Mayors of the 2 cities need to address the actual length and timing of the
visit.
b) 2011 Fund raisers: Several ideas were presented. Tricia suggested a game
night. She provided several ideas and how it had been done at other organizations. It
would be a French Trivia game night. We need a date and a venue. Denise brought up
a Tea as a possible fund raiser. Possibly with a theme and auction maybe partnering
with the Historical Society. Self funding of each event was suggested.
John Korn made a motion that we have 5 possible fund raisers. (Trivia night, Tea with
Napoleon, the Pot Luck, the French Market and the Wine tasting) Denise Rano seconded
the motion. It was passed by acclamation.
It was also agreed that we should apply for The Sister City of the Year Award.
VI. The next meeting will be January 20,2011 at 5:30 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Paula Randant
