AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VI OF CHAPTER 18
ENTITLED 'TRAFFIC CODE' OF THE VILLAGE CODE
OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Article VI entitled "Speed Restrictions" of
Chapter 18 (Traffic Code) of the Village Code of Mount Prospect,
as amended, is hereby further amended by amending section 18.604
in its entirety; so that hereinafter said Section 18.604 of the
Village Code of Mount Prospect shall be and read as follows:
"sec.18.604. Electronic Speed-Detecting Devices. Electronic
speed-detecting devices shall not be used within
five hundred feet (500') beyond any speed regulatory sign in the
direction of travel (when such sign indicates a reduction in the
speed limit); if so used in violation hereof, evidence obtained
thereby shall be inadmissible in any prosecution for speeding.
However, nothing in this Section prohibits the use of such
electronic speed-detecting devices within five hundred feet
(500') of a sign within a special school speed zone indicting
such zone, conforming to the requirements of Section 18.605 of
this Article, nor shall evidence obtained thereby be inadmissible
in any prosecution for speeding provided the use of such device
shall apply only to the enforcement of the speed limit in such
special school speed zone."
SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in
pamphlet form the manner provide by law.
