Gentlemen:
The Cook County Highway Department is contemplating erect-
ing traffic route markers on various highways and city street con-
neetions within Cook County. These county routes are to serve as
feeder and connecting routes between State routes and various cen-
ters of population.
The signs are 8 "x12" and bear a two letter combination, such as
B G, to be erected on steel sign posts in a manner similar to that
followed by the Illinois State Highway Department. One sign will be
erecter in every other block where a route passes through a village
or city.
The signs and posts are finished in a neat manner and are not
objectionable or sightly. By erecting the signs on steel posts the
parkways are not disturbed or torn up inasmuch as the post is driven
into the ground.
One of these routes passes your Village, namely the Elmhurst-
Wheeling Road.
May I have the permission of your municipality to erect route
markers in the above described manner over the above described streets?
If you desire any further indormaticn pertaining to this matter I
will be pleased to furnish you with same.
Hoping for your cooperation in this matter, I remain
Yours very truly,
Harry V. Lochner.
