November 22nd, 1923.
Minutes of a special meeting held in pursuance
to the following order of the President:
"Nov. 19 - 1923
Mr. Henry J. Shard,
1 Village Clerk,
Dear Sir:
You are hereby directed to call a special
meeting of the President and Board of trustees to be held
Thursday evening, Nov. 22, 1925 for the purpose of consider-
ing and passing of a Building Ordinance and to take ur such
other business as may come before the meeting.

Village President."
The President called the meeting to order.
The clerk called the roll, all trustees, excepting
trustee Mecklenburg, responding present.
Thereupon the clerk read the following letter from the
Zoning Commission.
"Mount prospect,
November 17, 1923.
To the Honorable, the President and
Members of the Board of Trustees, of the
Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois.
Gentlemen:
Enclosed please find copy of zoning ordinance for
the Village of Mount Prospect, passage of Which is hereby recom-
mended. The Zoning Commission has held its public hearing on the
proposed zoning of the Village on November 15th and all legal
requirements necessary, we believe, have been complied with.

Fowever, the Zoning Commission strongly recommends
the passage of a building ordinance prior to the passage of
this Zoning ordinance as frequent references to a Superintendent
of Building Construction and to the building ordinance are
made in the Zoning Ordinance.
The Zoning Commission has applied itself very
diligently to the task of zoning the Village and preparing the
Ordinance and is gratified with the reception same received
at the public hearing and which was well attended; no objections
were voiced.

It was duly moved, seconded and carried that action on
the Zoning ordinance be deferred to the next meeting.
Thereupon the clerk read an Ordinance to provide rules
and regulations for the erection, construction, alteration,
repair, removal, safety, and inspection of any Building, Wall,
Structure or portion thereof and creating the office of Superinten-
dent of Building Construction, said Ordinance being designated as
Ordinance # 51.
It was duly moved by trustee Jahncke, seconded by
trustee Gosch, that said ordinance be passed.

Ayes; Gosch, Haas, Heide, Jahncke, Pohlmann.
Nays: None.
Motion carried ayes five, nays none.
Thereupon the clerk read the following bills.
Remus & Schultz, cement floor in Village Fall 102.90
Ernest V. Schmidt, furnishing and installing
heating plant in Village Ha11 375.00
It was duly moved by trustee Haas, seconded by trustee
Pohlmann, that bill of Remus & Schultz be paid upon his filing
a waiver of all liens for Labor & Material furnished for the
cement floor, and that Mr. Ernest V. Schmidt be paid 90?o of his
bill.

Ayes: Gosch, Haas, Heide, Jahncke, Pohlmann,
Nays: None.
Motion carried ayes five, nays none.
Thereupon the clerk read the following application to
dig up Maple Street.
"Nov. 19, 1923.
To the Honorable President and Members of the Village
Board of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois:
Gentlemen:
I hereby make application for permission to dig
up Maple Street from lot line of Lot 5 in Blk. 6 of Busse &
Wille's Resubd. to drain tile in the west side of Maple Street
for the purpose of alyinp a drain from my catch basin to said
tile.

It was duly moved, seconded and carried that said
permit be granted and that a deposit of $10.00 be made by Mr.
Nordbroek as a guarrantee that refill would be properly made,
said '10.00 to be refunded upon orders of the Village Board.
Thereupon it was duly moved by trustee Gosch, seconded
by trustee Haas, that trustee Jahncke be authorized and directed
to have a coal shed built and to purchase 1 ton of hard coal.

Nays: None.
Motion carried, ayes five, nays none.
Thereupon it was duly moved by trustee Haas, seconded
by trustee Heide, that trustee Pohlmann be authorized and direct-
ed to have electric light fixtures installed in the Village
Hall.

Ayes: Gosch, Hass, Heide, Jahncke, Pohlmann.
Nays: None.
Motion carried, ayes five, nays none.
Thereupon the advisability of hiring a man to work
steadily for the Village in the capacity of Chief of Police and
Superintendent of Water Works was discussed.
It was duly moved by trustee Haas, seconded by trustee
Dosch that the President be authorized and directed to hire and
appoint a man to act as Chief of Police and Superintendent of
Water Works at a salary of $110.00 per month to May 1st and
at $125.00 per month for the succeeding seven months.

Ayes: Goseh, Haas, Heide, Jahncke, Pohlmann.
Nays: None.
Motion carried, ayes five, nays none.
The President thereupon appointed Mr. l?rank
Gerken as Chief of Police and Superintendent of Water works and
ask the concurrence of the Board therein.
It was duly moved, seconded and carried that said
appointment he concurred in.
Thereupon it was duly moved by trustee Pohlmann,
seconded by trustee Haas, that the President be authorized
to sign and the clerk to countersign and issue a warrant for
the sum of x9.60 to Charles Koepen for two days work
for hauling dirt.

Nays: None.
Motion carried, ayes five, nays none.
Thereupon it was duly moved by trustee Haas, seconded
by trustee Heide, that Trustee Pohlmann be authorized and
directed to have a cement sidewalk and auto drive installed
in front of Village Hall.
