Minutes of the meeting of July 3rd were read and same were, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, approved as read. The Treasurer's report, as follows, was read and ordered placed on file. Thereupon the clerk read the following estimates, submitted by the Consoer Engineering Company; "July 5, 1923. President and Board of Trustees, Mount Prospect, Illinois. Gentlemen; Chicago Bridge & Iron Works, contractors for Steel Water Tank at Mount Prospect, have completed work on their contract as follows: First Estimate For erecting steel tank, 80% complete, 43,600.00 Amount due on First Estimate $3,600.00 Less 15% or more, 600.00 Amount due on First Estimate $3,000.00 Respectfully submitted, C ONS OER ENGINEERING COMPANY, (Signed) BY: A. Gentlemen; Contractor, Chicago bridge & Iron Works, on construction of Steel Water Tank at Mount Prospect, have completed work on their contract as follows; - Final Estimate - For erecting tank and tower, 100% complete, $4,465.00 Less Amount on First Estimate, 3,000.00 Amount Due Contractor on this Estimate, ;1,465.00 C0NS0ER ENGINEERING COMPANY, (signed) BY: A. 0. Consoer." also a statement from the Luitwieler Pumping Engine Co. showing a balance due them of $556.84 which included an item of $20.84 for additional bond cost and $36.00 for circuit breaker. It was duly moved by Trustee Haas, seconded by Trustee Pohlmann, that said estimates for the Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. be passed and the Clerk be directed to issue warrants for same and that the Luit- wieler Pumping Engine Co. be paid the sum of $327.50, which amount was arrived at by deducting 20.84 for the additional bond they were charging and deducting 208.50 or 100 of the contract price of the pump, which was to be held pending final test of pump; and that the Clerk be directed to issue warrant in favor of Luitwieler Pump- ing Engine Co. for the sum of $327.50. Application is hereby made by the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois to perform work as specified below. To install as main on Willie St. to 200' North - also gas service to E/S Owens 1 3. Central (Geo. Busse) and S. E. Emerson - 1 - 2 3. of Central Rd. Mt. Prospect - also 700 ft. on Milburn 500 ft. S. Main St. and 250 ft. on S. To the Honorable President and Members of the Village Board of the I Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois. Gentlemen: I hereby make application for permission to put in Drain on 6Ville Street between Lincoln and Evergreen, check for the sum of $10.00 as a guarantee that refill will be made to the satisfaction of the Village Board enclosed. Signed - -Meier & usse. per William Busse, Jr." It was duly moved, seconded and carried that said permits be granted and deposit of Meier and Busse for the sum of A10.00 as a guarantee that refill would be properly made be held by the Clerk until ordered returned by the Village Board. Thereupon it was moved by Trustee Haas, seconded by Trustee Heide, that the Street and Sidewalks Committee be authorized to hire a man to flush trench along pavements and at street crossings and that they have street crossings repaired as soon as practicable. The "Mount Prospect, Ill., July 10, 1923. To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect: Gentlemen: On June 5th, 1923 I appointed the follow - ing as members of the Health Board. John Gerken. Alvina Wille. D. Friedrichs, Jr. These appointments were concurred in b7 your Honorable Board on this date. Mr. D. Friedrichs, Jr. has advised me that he would not accept the appointment and I, therefore, hereby appoint Mr. Herman Noll as member of the Health Board to fill vacancy caused by Mr. Friedrichs not accept - ing the appointment and respectfully ask your concurrence therein. Yours very truly, (Signed) William Busse Village President." It was duly moved, seconded and carried that the appointment of H. R. Noll as member of the Health Board be concurred in. Thereupon Mr. Geo. Busse informed the Board that he had insured the Municipal Bldg. for the sum of 42300.00 and that said policy expired on June 20th. 1924. It was duly moved by Trustee Haas, seconded by Trustee Heide, that the Clerk be directed to have said insurance policy transferred to the Village and that the President be authorized to sign and the Clerk to countersign and issue a warrant in • favor of Mr. George Busse for the sum of P15.00 for said policy and that building and pumping apparatus therein be insured for an additional 12,000.00. `" . Thereupon Mr. George Busse requested permission to lay cement sidewalks in Busse Eastern Addition. It was duly moved, seconded and carried that said permit be granted and that the President approve grade at which these sidewalks are to be laid. Thereupon President William Busse requested permission to lay cement sidewalk along the Mouth side of Busse Ave. from Elm St. to School St. It was duly moved, seconded and carried that said permit be granted. Thereupon Mr. Geo. Busse informed the meeting that he had some surplus ground which the Village could have to fill in between trees on the south side of Busse Ave. from School St. to Owen St. stating that he would furnish team and man to haul said earth if the Village would hire help to load and spread same. It was duly moved by Trustee Heide, seconded by Trustee Pohlmann, that the Public Grounds 6ommittee be authorized to hire necessary help to load and spread earth offered by Mr. George Busse. ROLL CALL Ayes: Haas, Heide, Jahnoke, Mecklenburg, Pohlmann. Nays: None. Motion carried - Ayes five - Nays none. Thereupon it was moved, seconded and carried that the Clerk be directed to return deposit of 4.00 of Dudley Budlong which he was holding as a guarantee that back fill in excavation made by Mr. Budlong would be properly made. Thereupon the Clerk read the following resolution. c c WHEREAS, Almighty G @d, in His infinite and farseeing wisdom, has elected to remove from our midst WARREN GAiALIEL HARDING, late President of the United States, and WHEREAS, the sudden and unexpected death of the President has plunged the nation into great grief, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the President and members of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Mt. Prospect, in meeting assembled solemnly and with reverent appreciation of the great loss sustained by the American people, express- es its sense of bereavement; and be it further RESOLD, That the business men of this village be reouested to close their place of business on Friday, August 10th, from oho o'cibok to four P.M., the date of the funeral of our departed President as a token of respect and love, and that the clerk be instructed to forward a copy of these resolutions to all business men of our village. August 7, 1923. Said resolution was unanimously carried by a rising vote. Thereupon the follolwing appointment as membersof the Zoning Commission was read. "To the Honorable The Board of Trustees Village of Mount Prospect; Gentlemen; By virtue of authority conferred upon me by ordinance, I hereby appoint the folloiing as members of the Zoning Commission and respectfully ask your con- currence therein. Thereupon contract for installing all water service pipes, ordered by the Village until the 15th day of August, 1923, at the rate of3 per foot for flanged joints and 75 cents per foot for wiped joints signed by Albert Tassi with Felix Orfei as surety was presented. It was duly moved by Trustee Haas, seconded by Trustee Pohlmann, that the President and Clerk be authorized to sign said contract for the Village. Thereupon the following letters from the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. was read and the Clerk was directed to reruest the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. to furnish the Village with the information as to where they propose to set their poles from Elmhurst Road to Central Road as the plat which the Co. submitted did not indicate same. Ehard n vi l l a e•a Ct e,•lr Thereupon Trustee Pohlmann stated that the States Improvement Co. had offered X250.00 for the necessary water for paving Elmhurst Road and Main Street from the Siegers Road to Rand Road. It was duly moved, seconded and carried that said offer be accepted. Thereupon Mr. 4 inkel reported that he had put in 62 hours of time during the month of July, 1923, operatinE the village pump. It was duly moved by Trustee Haas, seconded by Trustee Heide, that the President be authorized to sign and the Clerk to countersign and issue a warrant for the sum of $31.00 in favor of Mr. Edward Zinkel in payment for 62 hours running pump in July, 1923. ROLL CALL Ayes: Haas, Heide, Jahncke, Mecklenburg, Pohlmann. Nays: None. Motion carried - Ayes - five, Nays none. Thereupon the following appointment was made by the President. "Mount Prospect, Ill., August 7, 1923. To the Honorable Board of Trustees, Village of Mt. Prospect. Gentlemen: By virtue of authority conferred upon me by ordinance,I hereby appoint Edward Zinkel Special Police and respectfully ask your concurrence therein. Thereupon it was duly moved by Trustee Pohlmann, seconded by Trustee Haas, that the Chairman of the Fire and Water Committee be authorized to have light connected in Pump Room. Thereupon the following bids were presented and action on same was deferred to some future date. Sht 1enburg For installing concrete floor in Municipal Building A168.00. Mount Prospect Pumping Station We agree to install and furnish all material for a cement floor in pump house, truck room and meeting room for the sum of $175.00. 2 x 4 to be placed in the concrete should be furnished by the carpenter. Mt. Prospect, Illinois, August 7, 1923. Village of Mount Prospect. I propose to furnish the following: Maple floor, base and quarter round, 2 x 4's to be laid in concrete 16" center, and including labor for the sum of Eighty -six Dollars. ($86.00).
