HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/01/1959 VB minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD IN THE MUNICIPAl BUILDING, VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, DECEMBER 1, 1959 The meeting was called to order at 8:23 P.M. by President roll call Lams. Upon roll call, the following trustees answered Present: Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Absent, Trustee Gaw. Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that minutes the minutes of the meeting of November 24th be approved as submitted. The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Absent, Trustee Gaw. Trustee Norris, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the bills of December 1 be approved as follows: General $15,514.19 bills Garbage 24.93 Library 621.20 Park. System Revenue Fund 851.47 Motor Fuel Tax 1,880.17 ~Water 7,480.22 $26,372.18 The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Absent; Trustee Gaw. Whereupoh the President declared the motion carried. Trustee Casterline again brought up the subject of stop stop signs at signs at entrances upon Foundry Road, mentioned in last week's minutes entrances to (p. B) and made the following motion, seconded by Trustee Norris: That Foundry Road the attorney be directed to prepare an ordinance requiring traffic on Fai.rview, Prospect Manor and Eastwood Streets to stop before entering Foundry Road. The President put the question, t~e Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trastees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Absent, Trustee Gaw. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Trustee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved that the Village Manager be directed to advertise for sealed bids on gaso- Village-owned line, gasoline tank and pumps, to service trucks and police cars at gas pumps the Pine Street garage. The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Nays, none. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Trustee Schlaver of the Fire & Water Committee brought up the adoption of the Building code of the National Board of Fire Under- Building writers. This was discussed, during which it was pointed out that Code many municipalities adopt the blanket code, adding provisions which apply locally. This matter was referred to the Building Committee for study and recommendation. Trustee Norris of the Street Committee brought up the subject of requiring residents to connect to sewers when they have been brought sewer connect- in. Trustee Norris, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the ion required Village Attorney be authorized to prepare an ordinance requiring that where sewers are abutting or within 200 ft. of a residence, the owner is required to connect thereto. The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Absent, Trustee Gaw. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. December 1, 1959 Trustee Ekren read the following letter from the Architectural Committee: November BO, 1959 Village President & Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Mt. Prospect, Illinois Gentlemen: Architectural Committee We have examined the plans, survey and specifications for a recommends home to be constructed for Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Konstant, at 902 Gregory. exception to building The plau~ meet all of the requirements of our Building Code code except for masonry chimneys. The architect has advised us that the metal chimneys provided for in the plans meet all the requirements of the National Board of Fire Underwriters. He also advises that to use masonry chimneys would destroy the architectural value of this home. We recommend that he receive favorable consideration in his appeal from our committee. Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved that the Board of Trustees approve the variation requested by Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Konstant, 902 Gregory, for metal chimneys instead of masonry chimneys as specified in their plans and specifidations, and instruct the Building Department that the Board approves the permit. Board allows bldg. code The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the exception following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Norris and Schlaver. Absent, ~rustee Caw. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. Plat of Brickman Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the Manor outside plat of Brtckman ~anor, First Addition,~nit ~6 be referred to the village Plan Commission for study and recommendation. This property is outside limits the Village limits. The motion carried ~v acclamation. Mr. Ford Hicks, I South George, arose from the audience and inquired if the Village could bring pressure on Mr. Serafine to improve Serafine the appearance of the two homes that were moved on-to lots on the north homes moved onto side of East Central Road. The Board ~decided to request the Central Rd. B~ilding Department for a report on what is being done. Discussion was held regarding improvement of George and Albert Streets. Nanny property owners feel that they would prefer the street Street improvements to remain as is4 Mr. Leon Mitchell, % South George, stated George and Albert Sts. however that he has a drainage problem in front of his house. This matter is being held for further consideration. Trustee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved for adjournment, and the meeting regularly adjourned at 9:32 P.M.
