Petition was received regarding dust on Highland Avenue as
follows:
Petition Mt. Prospect Village Board
Dust on
Highland Ave. Gentlemen:
Highland Avenue from Elmhurst Street to Forest Avenue has
become a dust bowl. Since the initial paving has been put in, heavy
trucks have been using it to haul dirt. A lot of this dirt falls off
the trucks and is churned to dust by the t~ucks and cars using the
street. Any car or truck using the street raises a huge cloud of dust
that settles over the nearby houses. It enters thro~$h doors and
windows and settles on rugs and furniture. It has created an impossible
situation that could easily be corrected by cleaning or oiling the
street.
We the following respectfully petition the Village Board to
take action to alleviate this condition.
Signed - Mrs. E. F. Thompson 520 N. Prospect Manor
Mrs. L. W. Doolan 521 N. Prospect Manor
Mrs. L. D. Naylor 517 N. Prospect Manor
Mrs. J. Szafranski 519 N. Prospect Manor

gas station Mr. Dan Serafine arose from the audience, with a question as
Serafine to how a gas station could be legally placed in a logical po~tion in
shopping center the new shopping center to be erected at Rand and Central. He was
advised that he should place the pumps or station house over 300 ft.
from the nearest gas station (which is across the street), but that
inasmuch as gas stations are not included in the B-1 classification
he must appeal for variation in order to erect it at all.

Mr. Serafine also inquired if Mr. Weber would be required
to put in street improvements on his property (East Lincoln Street
when extended) the same as contractor-builders. He also wanted to
know if Santucci will put back Lincoln St. between Map~e and Emerson
in the same shape he found it (road base).
