PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD
IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, VILLAGE OF
MOUNT PROSPECT, TUESDAY, F~RUARY 3, 1959
The meeting was called to order at' 8:14 P.M. by President
Lams and the Clerk was directed to call the roll. On roll call, the roll
following trustees snswered~"Present.: Airey, Broad, Casterline,
~'~ Norris and Willer. Absent: Trustee Schlaver.
~ All trustees having previously received copies of the minutes
of January 27, 1959, Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Casterline, minutes
moved that the minutes be approved as submitted. The President put
the question and the Clerk called the roll, with the following response:
Ayes: Trustees Airey, Broad, Casterline, Norris and Willer. Nays,
none. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
It was moved by Trustee Airey and seconded by Trustee
Casterline that the list of bills for the p~riod ending February 3,
1959, be approved in the following amounts:
General $18,188.82 bills
~ Library ~ 507.09
.50 Water 5,545.76
h~ Parking System 1,160.20
~ Motor Fuel 25.63
~ Tax ,
, 7.
The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll, with
the following response: Ayes: Trustees Airey, Broad, Casterline,
Norris and ~iller. Absent: Trustee Schlaver. Nays, none. Whereupon
the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Willer referred to minutes of December 2nd previous,
displaying petition and plat of annexation from Munao Brothers, and
made the following motion: Louis Munao ~ s
First Addition
"that the President and clerk be directed to sign the map of
annexation to the Village of Mt. Prospect in behalf of the petition
signed by Louis Munao November 4th, 1958, and that the Village Attorney
be directed to prepare an ordinance for the annexation of said property,,.
T~-stee NOrris seconded this motion. The President put the qauestion
and the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes:
Trustees Airey, Broad, Casterline, Norris and Willer. Absent: Tru'stee
Sch]aver. Nays, none. Whereqoon the President declared the motion
carried.
Trustee Witl~r submitted to the Board a plat of subdivision
known as "Garden Subdivision", located just north of the YF~/Hall on Garden Sub.
Main Street, and made the following motion: "that the Plat of Sub-
division located just north of the VFW Clubhouse on Main Street be
directed to the Plan Committee for study and recommendation,.
Trustee Casterline seconded this motion. The President put the
question and the Clerk called the roll, with the following response:
Ayes: Trustees Airey, Broad, Casterline, Norris and Willer. Absent:
Trustee Schlaver. Nays, none. Whereupon the President declared the
motion carried.
Trustee Norris discussed the revision of the Mt. Prospect Board of
Board of Health and reported that progress is being made, that Health
Nurse Elaine Cryns and her husband Dr. Cryns, having had considerable
Board of Health experience in the administrative field, are willing to
go ahead. It was suggested that the office of Secretary of the Board
of Health be set up and that such duties be Spelled out. The Connty
Health Department is willing to aid in this.

Village Flyer Trustee Broad made reference to the Village Flyer, and
expressed his feeling that this was a very good idea. He felt
' that there was a need for an official bulletin which would let
the people know what is going on in the Village.
i New well on Trustee l~iller brought up the subject of sinking a new
~ Carson site well, stating that it seemed to be agreeable to Carson, Pirie Scott
to locate this well in their newly annexed property. Trustee
Willar then moved, seconded by Trustee Norris, ~that the Village --
Manager be authorized to negotiate with Ca,Eon Pirie for location
of an additional well site". This motion was carried by acclamation.
Coanty zoning Village Manager Appleby reported in writing on the County
hearing for Zoning hearing held January 29th, referred to in the minutes of
air lines January 2~th. The said 51 acres on Linneman Road between Dempster
site and Algonquin were petitioned to be zoned from fsrming to business.
This was to consist of a site for ai~ lines offices, which would be
close to O'Hare Airport and the tollway.' Permission has been granted
by the County to the Village to file their comments within 20 days.
Further discussion by the Board is withheld until the next meeting~
at which time any action deemed necessary will be taken.
President Lams brought up the subject of the signal lights
to be installed at the railroad crossing at Northwest Highway and
signal lights Central, stating that Mr. Engler reports that the State does not
at Central & approve a green arrow on a green light for a l~eft turn, but insists
~ Hwy x-ing on a "No Left Turn" flashing neon light when the gates are down~
supplemented by a sign east of the intersection explaining the
"No left turn while gates are down". The green cycle for left
hand land clearaace from the east before traffic from the west
has been approved.
Bids on President Lams also stated that in regard to the Fire
Fire Bon~ds Fighting Bond Referendum, it would be about two weeks before --
bids and sale of bc~ds could proceed, and a month to six weeks
before bids on the truck and eq~tipment could be accepted.
Trustee Willer, secDnded by Trustee Airey, moved for
adjournment, and the meeting was regularly adjourned at ~:12 P.M.
