THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON
TUESDAY, MAY 27, 1958.
The meeting w~s called to order at 8:06 P.M. by President
Lams a~d the Clerk was then directed to call the roll.
On roll call, the following Trustees answered, "Present":
Broad, Casterline, and Norris. Absent: Trustee Airey,
Schlaver and Willer.
All Trastees having previously received copies of the
minutes of the meeting h~ld May 20, 1958, it was moved by
Trustee Norris and seconded by TrusteeBroad that the minutes
be approved as corrected by. the Village Clerk. The President
put the question and the Clerk called the roll, with the
following response: A~es: Trustees Broad, Casterline and
Norris. Nays: None. Absent: Tx,Asteee Airey, Schlaver and
Willer; whereupon the President declared the motion
carried and said minutes approved as correct, ed.
It was moved by Trustee Casterline and seconded by
Trustee Norris that the List of Bills to he paid as of
Ma~ 27, 1958 be approved for payment. The President put
the question and the Clerk called the roll, with the follow-
ing response: Ayes: Trustees Broad, Casterline and Norris.
Nays: None. Absent: Trustees Airey, Schlaver and Willer;
whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
The Village Clerk read the following letter:

Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois
Gentlemen:
On May 22, 1958, at a regular meeting of the membership
of this Association a discussion was held on the subject
of Frontage Consent provisions of the Mount Prospect
Municipal Code with respect to the iss,,~ce of building
permits for Gasoline Service Stations. Particular reference
was made to the situation that has recently developed at
Highland Avenue and North Elm Street between the affected
property owners and the Cities Service Oil Company.
The affected property owners are members of this Association
and the location of the proposed service station is within
the established boundaries of this Association. Accordingly,
this Association has gone on record as being just as concerned
about future actions this VillageBoard may take in this local
problem as the home owners directly affected. Therefore, the
Membership of the Northeast Home Owners Association has voted
unanimously to most emphatically request that the Board of
Trustees take whatever action is deemed necessary to uphol$,
enforce and to defend by legal means the provisions of
Article XII, Sections 14,1205 and 14.1206 of the Municipal
C ode ·

President T~m~ directed the Village Clerk to place the
above read letter on file.
Village ~a~ager Appleby informed the Board of a Public
Hearing to be held before the Zoning Board of Appeals of
Cook Oounty-~n June 5, 1958 at 5 P.M. at the Arlington
Heights Village Hall. The public hearing to pertain to
property known as Brickm~ Mamor.
It was moved by ~rustee Broad ~nd seconded by Trustee
Norris that the Village Attorney be instructed to prepare an
ordinance adopting the regulations of Cook County pertaining
to Septic Systems by reference and making the necessary adjust-
ments to the Municipal Code. The President put the question
and the Clerk called the roll, with the following response:
Ayes: Trustees Broad~ Casterline and Norris. Nays: None.
Absent: Trustees Airey, Schlaver and Willer; whereupon the
President declared the motion carried.
Village Manager Appleby and President Lams commended
Police Chief Whittenberg and the Police Department on the
excellent record of the Police Department as p~rtrayed in
~he Police Report for the year 1958 to date.
It was moved by Trustee Casterline and seconded by
Trustee Broad that street lighting be improved at the
intersection of Elmhurst and Milburn as directed by the
Village Manager. Village ~auager Apple~y c!arified the
motion by stating that improvements pl~d ~re extending
the length of the mast of the light pole arm to 15 ft.
and increasing the power from 2500 to 6000 lumens. The
President put the question and the-Clerk called the roll,
with the following response: Ayes: Trustees Broad, Casterline,
and Norris~ Nays: None, Absent: Trustee Airey, Schlaver
and Willer; whereupon the President declared the motion
carried.
It was moved by Trustee Casterline and seconded by
Trustee Broad that immediate steps be taken to employ the
services of an additional policeman, thereby increasing
the size of the Police Depa~rtment from 15 members to 16
members. The President put the question and the Clerk
called the roll, with the following response: Ayes:
Trustees Broad, Casterline and Norris. Nays: None.
Absent: Trustees Airey~ Schlaver and Willer; whereupon
the President declared the motion carried.
Mrs. Vavra commented on the removal of trees by the
Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago in order
to install sanitary sewers in the parkways. President Lams
stated that a meeting has been arranged with the Metropolitan
Sanitary District of Greater Chicago for some time next week
to discuss the matter.
There being no further business to come before the
Board, it was moved by Trustee Norris and seconded by
Trustee Casterline that the meeting be adjourned. The
President put the question and the vote was taken bY
accl~tion; whereupon the president declared the motion
married and the meeting regularly adjourned a~ 8:42 PiN.
