PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD
IN THE MUNICIPAL BU~EDING l~ THE VILLAGE
OF MOUNT PROSPECT MAY 3, 1960
The meeting was called to order by President Lams at 8:08 P.M.
Upon roll call, the following trustees answered Present: Airey, Caster- roll call
line, Gaw, Ekren and Schlaver. Trustee Norris arrived later.
Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that the
minutes of the meeting of April 26th be approved after correction regarding
motion on staff car. This was done; the President put the question, -
the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees minutes
Airey, Casterline, Ekrem, Gaw. Pass, Schlaver. Trustees NorriS, absent.
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Gaw, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the bills
for the week of May Brd be approved as follows:

Revenue 695.88
Library 654.94
Water 2,615.81
$17,894.29
The President ~t the question, the Clerk called the roll, with the
following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw and
Schlaver. Absent, Norris. Whereupon the President declared the motion
carried.
Trustee Schlaver, seconded by Trustee Casterline, moved that
the Village Manager be authorized to dispose of various old motors, sale of junk
pump and pipe ~nd other materials unusable by the Village a t the
best possible price. This motion carried by acclamation.
Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Gaw, move~ that the Village
Board concur with the recommendation of the Board of Appeals re Zoning Case
Zoning Case 60-5, Chester Busse (minutes of April 19th) that the 60-5
request of the petitioner be denied. The President put the question,Chester Busse
the Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes, Trustees
Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw and Schlaver. Absent, Trustee Norris.
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Airey brought up the subject of the proposed Village
Fair, sponsored by the Lions Club, to be held on the site of Chester
Busse's Parking Lot, June 16, 17, 18 and 19, stating that the Judiciary
Committee felt that permission should be given for this wohthwhile Village Fair
cause, even though a petition had been given to the Board by neigh- Lions Club
bors of the site, asking that it be held elsewhere. Representatives
of the residents concerned stated that their objections were based on
the amounts of dust raised. They were assured that this dust would be
kept wet down. Then Trustee Schlaver, seconded by Trustee Airey, moved
that this Village Fair be the only activity of this type permitted on
this site during the year 1960. This motion carried by acclamation.
Presidefit Lams read the following letter from Consoer, Townsend
& Associates:

Dear Mr. Appleby: Re: School Street Water Main

We have checked the bids received at the meeting of April 26, 1960,
for construction of the referenced project. The bid of Rossetti Con-
tracting Company, Inc., in the amount of $2,240- is below our revised
May 3, 1960
estimated cost of $2,315-. We therefore reco~nend that this
contract be awarded to the low bidder.

Trustee Schlaver, seconded by Trustee Ekren, then moved that the
contract for the water main loop in School Street be awarded to
the low bidder, Rossetti Contracting Co., in the amount of $2,240-,
as recommended by the Village engineers. The President put the
question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response:
Ayes, Trustees Airey, Caster!ine, Ekren, Gaw and Schlaver. Absent,
Norris. Whereupon the ~resident declared the motion carried.
Tentative plat of an area in Elk Ridge Villa, Unit #2, was
shown to the Board, with the explanation that this is part of the
area in area covered by the final plat of Elk Ridge Villa, Unit #2 which is
Elk Ridge now in litigation.
Villa Unit #2
Trustee Ekren, seconded by Trustee Airey, moved that the tentative
plat of an area in Elk Ridge Villa Unit #2 be submitted to and held
by the Plan Commission until further development by court action or
Village Board, and that the Plan Commission be so notified. This
motion carried by acclamation.
Trustee Schlaver, seconded by Trustee Airey, moved that
the tentative plat of subdivision presented by Mr. DiMucci of 188 lots
in an area west of Busse Road known as Lot 1 and the N B88.? ft.
DiMucci Lot 2 in Edward Busse's Division of part of the SE ~ of Sec.
property Twp. 41 N, R-II, E Brd PM, and that part of the NE~ ~ of the SE ¥
of said Sec. 15 lying West of the '~enter line of Busse Road, in
Cook County, Ill., be referred to the Pta~ Commission for study
and recommendation. This motion carried by acclamation. ~-~
Trustee Norris arrived and took his seat at 9:05 P.M.
Trustee Norris, seconded by Trustee Ekren, moved that the
MFT plans and specifications for MFT Project 15CS, C.T. & A. 60-13, for
16 CS improvement of South Elmhurst Avenue and West Highland Avenue be
paving approved. The President put the question, the Clerk called the roll,
with the following response: Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline,
Ekren, Gaw, Norris and Schlaver. Whereupon the President declared
the motion carried. Trustee Norris agreed to discuss with St.Raymond's
the advisability of retaining crosswalks called for in the specifi-
cations.
Trustee Casterline, seconded by Trustee Gaw, moved to
refer to the Plan Co~mission the final plat of Country Club Terrace,
2nd Addition, for study and recommendation. This motion carried by
acclamation.
Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Schlaver, auth?rized
Court Case the Village Attorney to represent the Village in Circuit Court
60-C-1069 Case 60-C-1069 (DiNucci vs. Village). The President put the
DiMucci question, the Clerk called the roll, with the following response:
Ayes, Trustees Airey, Casterline, Ekren, Gaw, Norris and Schlaver.
Whereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Mr. Harry Crookes, 109North Forest~ complained about the
dust that was being raised on MacArthur'Drive and asked for relief
from this situation. He also mentioned destruction of Norway maple
tree in parkway when sewer connection was made, and there was question
of responsibility in replacement. This was taken under advisement
to be brought up next week.
Trustee Airey, seconded by Trustee Norris, moved for adjourn-
ment, and the meeting was r~gularly adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
