HELD IN TH6 VILLAGE HALL, MOUNT PROSPECT,
ILLINOIS, BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 4th, 1944
President Besander called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M., and upon calling
of the roll, the following Trustees were found to be present: Greinke, Haas,
Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Mille.
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 7th and the special meeting
of December 16th, 1943 were then read. It was moved by Trustee Wax, seconded
by Trustee Kirchhoff, that the minutes be accepted as read. Motion carried.

It was moved by Trustee Greinke, seconded by Trustee Haas, that the bills
be approved for payment as read. Ayes: Greinke, Haas, Kirchhoff, Mott ,
Wax and Wille. No Nayes.

It was moved by Trustee Kirchhoff and seconded by Trustee Wille, that
the Village authorize the Meade Electric Co. to replace the'ornamental
street light at - the Corner of Elmhurst Ave. and Northwest Highway and,,
that the clerk sign the priority form and estimate for thie,work. Ayes; Greinke,
Haas, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Mille. No nayes.
It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Wille, that the
Village rent a garage for the village garbage truck from Walter Kirchhoff
for the sum of Three (3.00) dollars per month. Ayes: Greinke, Haas,
Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Wille. No nayes.
It was moved by Trustee Haas, seconded by Trustee Wax that the chairman
of the finance committee be and he is hereby authorized to sell to the
FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DES PLAINES, 1943 General Corporate Fund Tax rig
Anticipation Warrants in the sum of One Thousand (1,000.00) dollars, with
interest at the rate of One and three -q uarter (1 percent per annum and Lami
accrued interest,is hereby approved and confirmed. Ayes: Greinke, Haas,
Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Wille. No nayes.
The clerk read the following letter, received from the Public Service Co.:

Gentlemen:
This is to acknowledge your letter of December 10, 1943,
requesting the following changes in the street lighting' system of the
Village of Mount Prospect:

Trustee Wax submitted to the Board, plans for the proposed installation
of traffic control signals by the Cook County Department of Highways, to
be located at the intersection of Main Street and Northwest Highway and
the south approach to the Chicago and North Western Railway tracks on
Main Street. After consideration by the Board it was moved by Trustee
Mott and seconded by Trustee Wille that the Board of Trustees pass the
following resolution:
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Cook County
Proposes to replace the present inadequate traffic signals at Main
( Street (Elmhurst Rd.) and Northwest Highway with the installation of
four two -way traffic signals and also to install one one -way traffic
signal at. the south approach to the Chicago and North Western Rail-
road crossing on Main Street, all known as Section 013- 0505 -15D and
, located in the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois and,
WHEREAS, said signals shall be interconnected with the oper-
ation of the railroad crossing protection, and
WHEREAS, the traffic signal installation shall promote the
orderly movement of traffic, safeguard pedestrian crossings and effect
the reduction of accidents, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, in the interest of public necessity, safety and
welfare, that the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect, Illinois, do hereby notify the Board of Commissioners
of Cook County that the Village agrees to assume the entire cost of
maintenance and operation of the aforesaid traffic signals, control
equipment and ,all other functional appurtenances installed thereto.
Ayes: Greinke, Haas, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Wille. No nayes.
Trustee Mott then presented an ordinance, granting to the Illinois Bel `(}
Bel/
Telephone Company, certain rights in the Village of Mount Prospect,
extending over a period of 25 years. As the Board could come to no
decision and due to the lateness of the hour, it was moved by Trustee
Mott and seconded by Trustee Wille that the matter be taken up at the
next meeting and that the present meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
