HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/07/1945 VB minutes 472 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES; -.HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS, ON THE 7TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1945 A.D. President Pendleton called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM. The roll being called the following Trustees responded: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. Trustee Welsh was absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of July 3rd and the special meeting of July 26th were read and approved upon a motion made by Trustee Lams and seconded by Trustee Wax. Motion carried. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No Nayes. It was moved by Trustee Mott and seconded by Trustee Lams that the Special Assessment report be placed on file. Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Trustee Lams, that the bills as approved by the Finance Committee be approved for payment. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No nayes. A proposal for foreclosure proceedings on 56 vabant lots for delinquent special assessments and general taxes was submitted for the Boards consid- eration by Mr. herbert H. Mitchell. President Pendleton referred the pro - posal to the Judiciary Committee 474 and report at the next meeting. It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Kirchhoff, that the Village refund $ 10.00 to the Mt. Prospect Fire Department which was paid as a license fee for dispensing beer at their dance and carnival. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No nayes. A motion was made by Trustee wax and seconded by Trustee Hartwig, that the Board accept the bid of the Bryant Water Tank Service, for scrap- ing and electric grinding the interior of the water tank and painting the inside with two coats of asphalt paint. Also, that the formal contract for this work be prepared by the Village Attorney. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No nayes. -A motion was made by Trustee Wax, seconded by Trustee Mott, that in accordance with the amended water ordinance, the 05.00 deposit be refunded to the following citizens: J.F.Beran J.Cordulck D.F.Reed W.H.Wirsing R. Butow J.Helphrey J.E.Watt M.B.Pendleton Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No nayes. A motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Trustee Lams that the Board authorize the purchase of four loads of gravel for the repair of streets. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. Nonayes. It was moved by Trustee Mott and seconded by Trustee Lams, that the Mt. Prospect State Bank and the First National Bank of Chicago continue as depositories for the funds of Fred G. Wille, Village Treasurer and Collect- or. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. Nonayes. A motion was made by Trustee Mott and seconded by Trustee Lams, that the Board authorize the purchase of three American flags, size 5'x8'. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No nayes. Trustee Wax reported that the excavations referred to him at the last regular, meeting had been filled in to the satisfaction of all concerned. The following communication was then read: ("'* August 7, 1945 . Honorable Members Board of Trustees Village of Mt. Prospect, I11. Gentlemen: In accordance with the duty and powers accorded to me by statute, I take pleasure in announcing the appointment of Mrs. Ralph Sandeen as Chairman of the Local Board of Health and request your concurr- ence in this appointment. Other members of this board will be announced at a later date. Nothing is more important than community good health. To keep it so requires constant diligence and cooperation on the part of every- one. Mrs. Sandeen is eminently fitted to head this important work in our village and I feel that we are indeed fortunate in securing her services. Respectfully submitted, Signed: M.B.Pendleton, President. Village of Mt. Prospect, I11. It was moved by Trustee Lams, seconded by Trustee Hartwig, that the appoint- ment of Mrs. Ralph Sandeen as Chairman of the Local Board of Health be" approved. Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Lams and seconded by Trustee Mott, that the Board approve the expenditure of $10.00 for a greeting to the men and women in the Service, to be published in the Third Adkiversary Edition of * WITH UNCLE SAM *. Ayes : Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Wax. No nayes. A letter from the Mt. Prospect Plan Commission, recommending the estab- lishing of a line of jurisdiction between Arlington Heights and Mt. Prospect, in respect to new subdivisionsbeing developed outside of the corporate boundaries was read and referred to the Judiciary Committee. 475 Plans and specifications for " Prospect Heights Manor ", received from Mr. James Lawrence were referred to the Mt. Prospect Plan Commission for investigation and report. There being no further business to come::before this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Mott and seconded by Trustee Wax, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
