MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD
IN THE VILLAGE HALL, MT. PROSPECT,
ILLINOIS, ON THE 31ST. DAY OF AUGUST,
1945 A.D.
President Pendleton called the meeting to order at 8:10 P.M. and upon
calling the roll the following Trustees responded: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams,
Mott and Wax. Trustee Welsh was absent.
The clerk then read the the following communication from the President:

Dear Mr. Schlemmer:
Will you please arrange to call a special meeting of the
Village Board to be held Friday Aug. 31, 1945 at 8:00 p.m.
in the Village Hall.
The purpose of this meeting is for the discussion of and
the possible hiring of a Village attorney, and a discussion
rte,+ of possible future action which the Board may want to take
with respect to the foreclosure of special assessments on
various pieces of property.

Village of Mt. Prospect
Trustee Mott reported that the judiciary committee had interviewed
various attorneys with respect to hiring an attorney who would represent .
the village during the illness of the Village Attorney, Mr. Henry Nickel
and that it was their opinion the village would be fortunate to obtain
the services of Mr. Frant M. Opeka of Des Plaines.
The following appointment was then read:

Village of Mount Prospect
Mount Prospect, Illinois
Gentlemen:
As you are aware, we have been without the services of a
Village Attorney through the very unfortunate illness of
Mr. Henry Nickel. As we have a number of pressing matters
confronting us, our Judiciary Committee feels that an interim
attorney should be engaged.
Therefore, I, Maurice B. Pendleton, President of the Village
Board of Mt. Prospect, in accordance with the authority vested
in me, do hereby temporarily appoint as special attorney for
the Village of Mt. Prospect at a retainer of $300.00 (three
hundred dollars) per year, Mr. Franc M. Opeka of Des Plaines,
I11, and request the approval of this appointment by this
Board.

It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Hartwig, that the
board approve the appointment of Mr. Frank M. Opeka as special attorney, at
a retainer of *300.00 per year. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and
Wax. No nayes.
After discussing the future action of the Board regarding foreclosure of
special assessments, it was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Lams,
that the Board, as a committee meet with Mitchell & 0 Brien at 8:00 P.M. on
Thursday, September 6th 1945 to discuss terms and procedure in the foreclosure
of certain special assessments and general taxes. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before this meeting it was moved
by Trustee Kirchhoff, seconded by Trustee Lams that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.
