HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/02/1945 VB minutes 4' 8 • MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES, HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS, ON THE 2ND DAY OF OCTOBER, 1945 A.D. The meeting was called to order by the President at 8:15 P.M. The roll being called, the following Trustees responded: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. Trustee Lams was absent. The minutes of the special meeting of August 31 and the regular meeting of September 4 were read. It was moved by Trustee Wax, sec -nded by Trustee Welsh that,the minutes be accepted as read. Motion carried. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax, and Welsh. No nayes. It was moved by Trustee Kirchhoff, seconded by Trustee Wax that the Special Assessment report be placed on file. Motion carried. The following appointment by the President was then read: Honorable Members Board of Trustees Village of Mt. Prospect Mt. Prospect, I11. Gentlemen: Due to a vacancy in our police force occasioned by the release of former police officer Albert Schock for cause, I herewith appoint as police officer Mr. Ambrose E. Kranz at a salary of 4_ one hundred seventy -five dollars ($175.00) per month, effec- tive with the date of this letter, and request the confirma- tion of this appointment by the Village Board. Respectfully submitted, (Signed) Maurice B, Pendleton Maurice B. Penleton, Pres. Mt. Prospect Village Board of Trustees. It was moved by Trustee Mott and seconded by Trustee Kirchhoff that the Board concur in the appointment of Ambrose E. Kranz as Police Officer. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. A motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Trustee Wax that the bills as approved by the Finance Committee be approved for payment. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. It was moved by Trustee Hartwig, and seconded by Trustee Welsh that the Board approve the purchase of a sewer rodder and root cutter for the cleaning of street drains. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. Trustee Kirchhoff made a motion that Police Chief Whittenberg be paid $112.50Nnfor overtime work during the time the Village was without a Police Officet.. The motion was seconded by Trustee Welsh and carried by the following vote: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. After reporting on the completion of the new well, Trustee Wax made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Mott, that the Board approve EXTRA NO. 3 amounting to $66.40 as recommended by the Village Engineers in their summary on the cost of the well known as "Estimate No. 5 and Final ". Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. A motion was made by Trustee Wax, seconded by Trustee Welsh that $4,563.810)e approved by the Board as final payment to the J. P. Miller Artesian Well Co. upon presentation of proper waivers from all contractors and. subcontractors, subject to the correcting of the floor level and deliv- ery.of stove. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Welsh that the Wayman Well Drilling Co. be hired to repair the pumps of Well No. 2 at a rate of $4.50 per hour. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. r!" No nayes. . It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded_ by Trustee Hartwig that the Roaenow Hands Roofing Co. be hired to repair the roof of Well No. 2 for an aunt not to exceed $75.00. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. . A motion was made by Trustee Wax, seconded by Trustee Kirchhoff that in accordance with the amended water ordinance the $5.00 deposit be re- funded to: H. H. Engelskirchen and R. F. LaMar Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh, No nayes. 481 The following letter was then read: Mr. Frank Opeka, Des Plaines, Ill. Dear Mr. Opeka: On September the 19th, I inspected the basement and yard of Mr. Hartwig at 104 S. Elm St. Apparently due to a faUlty sewerage connection the overflow from the septic tank on the property at 105 South Maple is flooding this basement with sewerage. The oder is nauseous. This condition is definitely a health It needs a quick remedy. There are small children in this house at 104 South Elm which adds to the seriousness of this condition. Any influence that the Village can exercise to remedy 4 this condition should be used. Sincerely yours, Susie S. Sandeen (Mrs. R. A. ) C.WO Chairman of Health Department It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Welsh that the Chief of Police notify the owner of the premises at 105 S. Maple to remedy the septic tank condition within 15 days, and upon failure to comply, legal steps will be taken to abate the nuisance. Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Trustee Hartwig that Mr. Albert L. Roderick make the semi - annual audit of the Water Works System of the Village of Mount Prospect, for the six months ending June 30, 1945, for the sum of $75.00. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. After discussion on the advisability of insurance for the new well, President Pendleton referred the matter to Trustee Kirchhoff with in- structions to obtain a binder on insurance and report at the next regular meeting. It was moved by Trustee Mott and seconded by Trustee Wax that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION SETTING UP CERTAIN PROPOSED POST -WAR 9_ IMPROVEMENTS AND REQUESTING STATE AND FEDERAL AID IN THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SAID WORK" be adopted. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. A motion was made by Trustee Welsh and seconded by Trustee Mott that the Board concur with the Board of Arlington Heights in the agreement as shown on the map prepared by the Mount Prospect Plan Commission, set- ting forth the respective zones of influence in County Zoning matters referred to them by the Cook County Zoning Board. Motion carried. A request for a 25 year franchize by the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. was deferred until the regular meeting of November for general discussion. It was moved by Trustee Wax and seconded by Trustee Kirchhoff that the Board authorize the purchase of 850 1946 Vehicle Tags for an amount not to exceed $75.00. Ayes: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Mott, Wax and Welsh. No nayes. [:: There being no further business to come before this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Mott, seconded by Trustee Wax that the meeting be ad- journed. Motion carried. •
