HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/08/1947 VB minutes 42, MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES, HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL, MT. PROS- PECT, ILLINOIS, ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1947 A.D. President Pendleton called the meeting to order at 8:20 P.M. The roll being called, the following Trustees responded: Hartwig, Kirchhoff, Lams, Mott and Welsh. Trustee Wax was absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of March 4th were then read. It was moved by Trustee Hartwig and seconded by Mott that the minutes be approved. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Pres- ident declared the motion carried and said minutes approved. The Treasurer's report for the period ending March 31st, 1947 was read. The motion was made by Trustee Welsh and seconded by Hartwig that the Treasurer's report be approved as read and placed on file. The -Present put the .question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes: All, Nays: None. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried and said report approved. A motion was made by Trustee Welsh, seconded by Hartwig that the bills as approved by the Finance Committee be approved for payment. A motion was made by Trustee Hartwig and seconded by Mott, that the Mt. Prospect Volunteer Fire Department be given permission to hold their annual carnival at the intersection of Maple and Evergreen Avenues, from June 5th to 8th inclusive. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, where- upon the President declared the motion carried and said permit granted. The Clerk read a request from Mr. Wm. D. McReynolds for re- zoning the property at the Northwest corner of Central Rd. and Main St. from Du- plex classification to business. The motion was made by Trustee Welsh and seconded by Kirchhoff that the request be referred to the Zoning Commission. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Welsh that the J udiciary Committee prepare a resolution objecting to the use of Route 83 through the Village of Mt. Prospect, as a tri -state highway. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. The motion was made by Trustee Welsh, seconded by Mott, that the ""' Clerk be instructed to write to the Superintendent of the Chicago and North- western Railway Co., calling attention to the condition of their property east of Emerson St. north of the railroad tracks, and also the driveway into the station. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Pres- ident declared the motion carried, The motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Lams, that the Finance Committee be authorized to invest the Municipal Building Funds in seven perofnt (7/8%) United States Certificates of indebtedness im- mediately. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes: All, Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and the Finance Committee so authorized. A},;r. it 8, 1947 The motion was made by Trustee Mott, seconded by Kirchhoff 4 3 that the Lutheran School be given permission to place signs on their barricades for protection of the children crossing Busse Ave. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried. New plane for the Municipal Building were submitted by the Village Engineers and were referred to the Building Committee. A motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Lams, that the Salvation Army be granted permission to hold their Annual Tag Day in the Village on June 17, 1947. The motion was voted upon by acclam- ation and the President deblared the motion carried. The motion was made by Trustee Hartwig, seconded by Lams, that in accordance with the amended water ordinance, the $5.00 deposit berefunded as listed by the water rate collector Maroh 31, 1947. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the follow - ing result: Ayes: All, Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and said deposits refunded. It was moved by Trustee Mott, and seconded by Welsh that the meeting be adjourned until 8:00 P.M. April 15, 1947. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and meeting adjourned. em,
