HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/30/1947 VB minutes / U- MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES, HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1947 The meeting was called to order by President Pendleton at 8 :05 P.M. The Clerk called the roll with the following Trustees responding: Bayne, Bydal, Hartwig, Lams, Mott, end Welsh. The Clerk then read the following communication: September 26, 1947 Mr. Robert Milligan, Acting Village Clerk Village of Mount Prospect Mount Prospect, Illinois Dear Sir: Will you please call a special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees Tuesday evening at eight o'clock at the Village Hall, September 30th. The purpose of this meeting is to consider plans of the proposed new Municipal Building, to authorize the advertising for bids for its construction and to transact any other business that may properly come before the Board at that time. Chester Danforth, of Consoer, Townsend, and Associates then presented revised plans for the pro- posed new Municipal Building. After an extended discussion of the plans by the Village Board of Trustees and members of the Library Board who were present, (Namely: Mrs. Dorothy Kester, Mr.Martin L. Green, Miss Bertha Ehard, and Mr.Edmund H. Cleven), September 30, 1947 a motion was made by Trustee Mott and seconded by Lams, that the revised plans, dated September 20, 1947 of the proposed new Municipal Building be accepted subject to the modifications discussed which included elimination of Library space at the re- nuest of the members of the Library Board who were present, and with the further understanding that no additional costs to the Village for plans and specifications will be incurred. The motion was voted upon by acclamation,whereupon the President declared the motion carried. A motion was then made by Trustee Welsh, and seconded by Bayne, that the Village Clerk advertise for bids on the pro- posed new Municipal Building; as covered by revised plans dated September 20, 1947; in the Mount Prospect Herald and in the Chicago Construction News. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: All: Nays: None. Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and the Clerk so instructed. A letter from Henry E. Steele on improvements by paving and curbing of various streets in the Hillcrest Subdivision was then read; action deferred until October meeting. The motion was made by Trustee Lams, seconded by Hartwig, that the Village Board extend Superior Home Builders temporary structure permit to cover the use of the present building on North Main Street for an office for construction and sales of buildings in Hillcrest Subdivision to May 1, 1948. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Trustees Bydal, Hartwig, Lams. Nays: Trustees Bayne, Mott, Welsh. President Pendleton then voted Aye and declared the motion carried and said permit extension granted. The Clerk then read communications from Harold E. Willson and Axel Lonnquist on proposed street improvements on See -Owun Avenue from Lonnquist Boulevard to Men -Awa Trail. The motion was made by Trustee Mott and seconded by Bayne, that Harold E. Willson be granted permission to con- struct a temporary gravel street (full width), namely See -Gwun Avenue, from Lonnquist Parkway to Man -Awa Trail with the further provision that Harold E. Willson will have deposited in an Escrow account, in the Mount Prospect State Bank, the sum of Three Thousand Four Hundred Eighty Dollars and Thirteen Cents ($3,480.13) to apply on account of the costs of the ultimate improvements; namely a street with curbs and gutters meeting the standards of the Village. The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following re- sult: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Thereupon the President de- clared the motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Lams, and seconded by Welsh, that the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois be instructed to install street lights of the bracket type at the following intersections: Elmhurst Road and Man -Awa Trail Elmhurst Road and Hiawatha Trail I -Oka Avenue and Hiawatha Trail I -Oka Avenue and Lonnquist Parkway I -Oka Avenue and Sunset Road The President put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes: All; Nays: None. There- upon the President declared the motion carried and the Public Service Company to be so instructed. The motion was made by Trustee Mott and seconded by Bayne, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President declared the motion carried and the meeting regularly adjourned. '
