CLOSED SESSION (f
AUGUST 19, 2008
The meeting was convened at 8:59 p.m., in the third floor Executive Conference Room of
Village Hall, 50 South Emerson, by Mayor Pro Tem John Korn. Those present at the Closed
Session were: Trustees Paul Hoefert, Arlene Juracek, Steven Polit and Michael Zadel. Staff
present included Village Manager Michael Janonis and Assistant Village Manager David Strahl.
Personnel discussion was removed during the open meeting. Litigation was added during the
open meeting.
Litigation Discussion
C Village Manager Janonis provided an update to the Village Board regarding the Soto case
settlement for $33,000 and the documents have been signed and the checks have been
distributed.
Jamie Williams case update:
Village Manager Janonis stated some depositions have taken place and the Judge has initiated
settlement discussions. The demand from the plaintiff is currently at $190,000 plus
treinstatement. The Village counter is at $15,000 and no reinstatement. Based on the activities
a and events since Mr. Williams has left the Village's employ he would not be eligible for hire as a
A police officer anyways so reinstatement is not an option. The next settlement to conference is
scheduled for next week and Manager Janonis is requesting settlement authority up to
$125,000. Village Board authorized settlement up to $125,000

There was no further discussion in Closed Session and on a motion by Trustee Zadel,
seconded by Trustee Polit; the Closed Session was adjourned at 9:57 p.m.
